My Grandmother has lived at Aegis Care Home now over 3 years. She has always had an elegant, comfortable home and Aegis Moraga is just that. I asked her today, upon a visit, what she liked about her experience in her new home. She replied, at the age of 93 no less, "the staff is wonderful and they take very good care of us." My father recently moved to Aegis of Moraga. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, their knowledge, kindness and support. Initially, the transition was difficult for my father due to the disruption of routine. The Aegis team stayed with Dad and us every step of the way and demonstrated flexibility to achieve the right living situation for Dad. My Mom moved in about 3 months ago. At 90 years old routines are an important part of life. The new routine at Aegis took some getting use to. The staff at Aegis were very good at helping my Mom adjust and showed a fair amount of flexibility in her transition. She has now fully adjusted and looks forward to the daily and monthly activity calendar that helps her exercise, engage with others and experience new things. My mother lived at Aegis Moraga for three years when it first opened 15 years ago and I wondered today how it looked inside now. So I walked in and walked around and it looks like it did when it was brand new, perhaps a bit better. I sat in front of the fireplace and talked to a nice, fine lady who had been there only a month and she loved it. Very surprised to see the one star reviews. I understand that some people might question the deposit and whether they could get better value elsewhere but the rest of the comments don't align at all with our experience. My mother-in-law has been at Aegis for almost two years and my wife is there every day at different times of the day (we live close by). I don't know about the other reviews, but my family had a very different experience with my mother during her stay at Aegis of Moraga. Our mother moved in just after Christmas of 2011 with early to mid stages of Alzheimer's. She enjoyed the activities from the beginning and even put on a little weight because the food was so good. I am only writing this review to let folks know that assisted living does not well accommodate those with memory problems. Aegis is a lovely facility and if you or your loved one can fend for themselves, use a button call system, and ask clearly for help then it is a nice place. They made a lot of promises regarding their ability to help my mother with moderate dementia. They did a fair job, but the reality is she spent way too much time alone in her room. I am leaving an updated review on this facility. When I initially placed my mother in the Aegis Moraga facility in May 2021, I believed it was a highly skilled environment with strong, honest, and educated management and care teams. However, this could not be further from the current reality. Recently my mother's care costs were randomly and dramatically increased without proper communications or justification. very unprofessional, no regard for their residents or staff. i went in for a visit considering leaving my elderly parents under their care but not only are they extremely over priced, it seems their staff is completely untrained for their positions. i would NOT feel safe leaving my parents under their care & i would definitely not recommend for anyones loved ones.
