Alan recently represented me on a wrongful termination and discrimination case against a large public tech company. The case involved compensation as well as different classes of vested and unvested equity awarded on a number of different dates with a number of different contracts over the past couple years. I was initially concerned that I might not be able to find a lawyer to handle a case that felt more suited for a Silicon Valley law firm, but any concerns that I had dissipated as soon as I talked with Alan.
Alan came highly recommended (from a corporate lawyer who is often his opposing counsel no less!) and I quickly realized why: Alan was the best of the best. Although I had done my diligence and conducted initial consultations with 4 other firms - all of whom were also highly recommended / ranked - it was clear from the get-go that Alan was in a class of his own. His ability to empathize and listen while also cutting to the chase, distilling the facts and articulating a clear strategy were unparalleled.
Alan immediately understood the nuances of equity grants and stock options, giving me the confidence that he would be able to go up against my employer's external counsel, the largest global employment practice exclusively representing management. And that he did - more than I could have expected.
Although it took a number of months, Alan was always a step ahead, weighing potential scenarios and decisions, proactively preparing documents and materials, and then swiftly taking actions to drive results. There were moments along the way when it felt like we were fighting an uphill battle, but he never stopped representing me with full confidence and conviction, refusing to give up until we reached an outcome that he knew I was happy with. In fact, Alan was able to successfully negotiate a number that was 4x the initial offer and we settled for a figure higher than I had expected.
Lastly, I realize that I still haven't mentioned this to Alan (nor did he ever mention it to me which speaks to the type of lawyer - and person - he is), but Alan frequently wouldn't charge me for menial tasks, check in calls, or email exchanges. There were also a number of instances when Alan joined a call or worked with a partner on something for my case, but he only billed me for the partner's time (at the very least, you'd think that if he didn't double bill me, he'd at least charge me the higher rate, but he never did). Alan knew I was cash-strapped and in a tough spot, so did everything he could to minimize costs wherever he could.
It's clear that Alan puts his cases above any amount of money, meets his clients where they are and sees them as human beings, and always approaches matters professionally, fairly, and with the strong morals that guide his work. I cannot recommend his services enough.
