Currently in the process of having our fence moved 9 months after installation. American installed fence on a sewer line easement and to our surprise the permit is still open on our home. They were trying to make it right be giving us half of our money back that we had invested into the fence. However, now we have another issue and they have miscalculated once again. We are to move our fence not 6 feet from current location but now 10 feet. We are still awaiting a response. Stating the facts. An honest review.

Communication and follow-up has been terrible. They tore out old fencing and put in new posts a week ago. They have not been back back since and I cannot get them to return my calls. I have followed up daily to find out when the fence will be completed - no response to multiple messages from the estimator or superintendent. Their work appears to be good so far, but be prepared to have zero follow-up.

Our neighbor got a fence installed by American. Luckily, I have cellular data—9am their guy cut my internet line, which appeared to have been marked. 10am, let the workers know they cut my internet and I am working from home, so it’s needed. Worker got my address, said he was calling his boss, it would be fixed. Around noon they kept working on the fence, I walked out and asked them if they knew what time I would have internet working, he said “they’re on it, it’ll be done today”. Sure. Kenzie, we apologize that this happened. Unfortunately the utility companies are not especially responsive to the calls for hit utilities and in many instances actually wait until the homeowners themselves call. As a reputable contractor, American Fence digs tens of thousands of holes every year. Unfortunately, part of that includes hitting buried utilities occasionally. 3 months ago I called to get a quote on a rolling gate. the salesman told me it would be about $650 for materials. I told him I would call back when I was ready. 1 month ago I began calling and attempting to get my gate. after a series of 20+ phone calls, 10+ voice-mail, and constant transfers, I finally recieved a return call from BIL to get a quote. my new quote was over $1000, when I protested I was told I must have needed to speak to the store directly for better pricing. I am a current customer of American Fence and am patiently waiting for my fence to be installed. The sales rep was very prompt in coming for measurements and an estimate. I paid the 60% down as quoted and since that time (9/17/19) I have had to reach out to Penny for updates regarding installation and have received very generic answers. As of today (11/22/19) I am still waiting for my fence installation which was supposed to have happened today. I not fencing acres of ground. 139 feet and two gates. A PHENOMENAL CREW, LISTENED TO MY NEEDS, LISTENED TO MY CONCERNS. GAVE ME AN INSTALL DATE 8 WEEKS OUT...THEY WERE THERE IN 3. WE OPERATE A DOG RESCUE, THEY WERE CONSIDERATE OF THE DOGS, CAREFUL WITH EQUIPMENT AROUND THEM, CAREFUL WHEN ENTERING AND EXITING THE YARD. STAYED AND SECURED AREAS PRIOR TO LEAVING EACH DAY.... STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR NEXT FENCING NEEDS.... WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN IF I HAD MORE YARD TO FENCE!!!!

Horrible to work with and low quality materials. Fence was supposed to be tight with the ground. Corner boards weren’t nailed in either. Still charged me full $3,300 🙄

They were overpriced but I thought I was paying for a professional job instead they took way longer than expected and cut my neighbor’s cable/internet. They clearly care more about the cash than the consumer.

I appologize for this situation Paul Guerdet. This particular situation was cause by an unmarked underground utility. As a responsible contractor that performs excavation on a daily basis, this is an unavoidable situation. It is made worse by the fact that we no control over the repair of the damaged utility. I called to schedule somebody to come look at my lawn. I believed I was talking with a different landscape company that I know and trust. As it turns out, American has been able to take the phone number of a different landscape company and is using it to steal business when people call. I was very very clear that I was calling for a specific person and asked for him by name.
