Requested a quote for propane installation. Ended up being charged $226.72, for Service Dispatch Fee ($119.99) and Site Survey ($99.75). This was for a 10 minute visit and tech did not show up on scheduled day. Talked to **************** and the dispute team, requesting bill be cancelled, all saying I need to pay. No other business charged for a quote, only Amerigas/ Heritage.I either pay the bill or risk collections as no one from the company will answer phone calls, emails, or letters. This is definitely a Zero Star company. I was recently widowed. The account was in my husband's name, and they treat me like **** for trying to change the name on the account. For real, who on earth would call to volunteer to pay for someone else's bill unless they were personally involved with not only the person but the home as well. I even volunteered to send a copy of his Power of Attorney giving me all rights to manage his finances. But no, they gave me nothing but additional grief. Had a repair done to my propane tank. The service technician had me sign off on invoice totaling $319. A few days later Amerigas sent me an invoice in an email charging $878 ($300 an hour for labor!). Talked to company service representative complaining about the massive difference in what I signed off on but all they said was I had to pay the invoice amount i got in email. Avoid this company if possible!
I had Amerigas fill my tank and selected monthly billing. They filled it once, I paid ***** monthly and the final balance was *****, yet they said I owed *****. When I contacted billing they said, "that's the way it is!", with no explanation. So, it took me two hours to cancel my account, and I could not connect to a live person. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with.
I purchased my home in summer ******************************************************* The first ********** to inspect the system told me the tank needed to be replaced and that he would consult his supervisor and call me back due to the tanks inaccessible location (no truck access for tank swap). This business engages in outright lies to customers and predatory charges. Be aware. Good luck trying to get gas delivered. God forbid you have a gas leak and call their "emergency number". I did and was immediately put on hold for 15 minute before anyone answered. I took over the service when I purchased a home from the owner. They have a foreign call center. If I could leave a 0 if I could. The customer service is the worst possible. I called multiple times and only got people who spoke NO english. Told nobody is stateside to talk to me when requested. Everything about this company is unacceptable. Trying to get my tank picked up was terrible and then the bill!! No show for pick up on day we were told- have voice mail to confirm. Charged me a poison pill bill of $150.00 when I sold the home, citing a "terms and conditions" clause whereby they charge $150.00 if you cancel the service before three years. I have never heard of ANY utility charging an exit fee upon cancelling service. I autopaid every month, on time. Cancelled my service over the phone, no exit fee was mentioned. I had moved into a property in 2023 where the previous owner (deceased) had used Amerigas. I had opened an account with them thinking that was who was the correct vendor. I never ordered propane and when the time came to order it, I noticed that the tank was serviced by ******, so have used them since 2023. Amerigas has billed me for tank rental and some other unsubstantiated 300 charge.
