I was so surprised to find out our dog was not the breed we thought he was. It all makes sense now as to his personality, and body type.
I have 2 litter mates and wanted to know what breeds they are mixed with. I purchased a lower cost dog DNA kit. They came back with 2 breeds that just didn’t seem right to me or anyone else, to include their vet. I should have known better. So I purchased an Ancestry kit and I am so happy that I did. It’s much more accurate and I highly recommend that anyone who wants to learn what breeds their dogs are to get an Ancestry kit. I am beyond impressed and so happy!
It was fun to find out what she really is which was nothing what we thought. We thought she was part Basenji because of the weird noises she makes but we were wrong. Turned out she is part Australian cattle dog, part Border Collie and a bit Patagonian Sheepdog. Surprise!

When I Adopted Gizmo I was told he was a Havanese….the DNA says, 54% Maltese & 46% Shih Tzu. Close enough, they’re all from the same family. I was just curious!
