I've been eating at Anchalee for years and for me it's one of the best Thai restaurants in the Bay. Reasonable prices, generous portions with a lot of protein (many pieces of tofu which is much appreciated!) and veggies too, great flavors, friendly service, accommodating if you want to make some modifications to your order. The curries, the himapan tofu (warning - spicy!), and the noodle dishes are all consistently good. I can't speak for the meat dishes but for a vegetarian, you can't go wrong here!

The world is chucked full of pretty okkkkay Thai food. Passable Thai food. Shruggable Thai food. It is very difficult to find Thai that is holy sh*t excellent. Look no further, yelpees, welcome to Anchalee's table. Literally throw a dart at the menu and order. You cant go wrong. This Thai spot has been in West Berkeley for at least a decade and I believe owned and operated by the same couple. Consistency is a good thing and not necessarily the hobgoblin of small minds. Who said that anyway? Presumably somebody who makes highly erratic Thai food. But look, I'm not here to name names. I'm here to write about the dependable Thai food that was prepared and delivered by Anchalee. That's the first name of the female half of the ownership. Such good food!! Was craving some Thai, and this hit the spot. I m from Thailand and everything was p authentic, som tum was slight exception normally it's a lil more acid n salt but their version is vegetarian friendly so no fish sauce dried shrimps etc. Still bomb tho. No complaints at all for everything else, my seafood special was soooo good I asked for squid instead of mussels and ugh umami bomb. This is the best Thai cuisine I've ever eaten! Perched quietly down one business from the corner of San Pablo and Dwight Way, the Anchalee nestles quietly in a beautiful wooden and glass structure, decorated with live plants and Thai art. The food is magnificent...have you ever had crab fried rice? The crab is soft and plentiful-the rice is riddled with diced fresh green onion, and other fresh herbs and vegetables.
