Get directionsMy 5 year old Pitt Bull Mastiff who was recently seen at Pamona Animal Hospital where they found what they believed to be an obstruction in his stomach. The team there sent us to Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital of Grand Rapids for emergency surgery. Upon arrival we sat in the waiting room for over an hour, when they finally made it to us they gave us a quote of Surgery, meds, fluids, 3 night hospital stay, & many other miscellaneous things which rounded out to a grand total of $6,900. They would not help him until th... read more
Didn't care for the communication that was between me and the staff/Vet. My Fur Baby Is still very sick and I don't know what is wrong with him. There is many "what if's" and I even took him to his normal vet.

Positives > Available in an emergency > Multiple locations > Staff is friendly > Doctor did good technical work > Recommended a dog onesie Negatives > Redundant website questions > Communication default is text, even when voice communication requested causing me to miss my dogs wakeup from surgery > Post surgery, made groggy, unstable dog wait on a hard floor for 20 minutes, while paperwork was prepared. I took the initiative to bring my dog a warm soft bed in the car, came back in and waited another 5 minutes to get it, a... read more
I think Animal Emergency Hospitals are useful and needed. When I arrived to the Byron Center location on 9/10/23 they were swamped. I heard it was due to the Grand Rapid’s location being closed. I brought my very lethargic cat in with puncture wounds. This was at approx. 7pm. I was called at 1am with a plan for treatment. The prices were outrageous. This is taking advantage of people who are in a vulnerable position with pets who need help. I understand a higher fee due to it being an emergency, but I really think this is a... read more
I brought my best friend Slim, in for an emergency, with all signs pointing to meningitis, want him to see a neurologist. Got sent home with medicine and $1100 vet bill. to watch my dog pass away for not being treated for all signs of meningitis!
Terrible experience here. I would Never return or recommend anyone take their pet here. I even texted my experience after it happened and they did not care to respond.
I brought my rabbit in who was experiencing sudden onset of loss of balance and hind end weakness. The doctor did x-rays and since the came back normal she thought maybe he had a pinched nerve in his back. That was the end of treatment no blood work or other tests such as ingesting a toxin. When I picked him up he was in his carrier and the tech said "Oh he's dizzy so he's quiet right now". He did not move the entire hour and 20 minute drive home. When I took him out of his carrier when I got home he was COMPLETELY paralyze... read more
