total incompetence on the issuing of much needed antibiotics to prevent pyometra which may have cost my dog her life. I even asked about antibiotics before I left and was told she had a shot of them and that was all she needed. I called 3 times the next day and was told the same thing. On the 2nd day after surgery I called again and informed them i had been told not only should she have been given antibiotics to take home the specific one she needed clavamox. It was only then that they said oh yeah the doctor put that on a s... read more

Seems their whole focus is on money. Soon as you walk in the door you have to hand over the credit card. Then they advise you not to wait, they'll call you. Well I waited there. My poor dog sat in there for approximately 7 hours, they did a sonogram, then the blood work they did didn't justify the diagnosis from the sonogram, so they advised I should leave him overnight so they could do a "complete" sonogram the next day, for more money than I had already paid. But they never did anything for him the whole time he was there... read more

Every single time I have used them, my dog died. Uncaring, cold, terrible people. One vet literally screamed on my face when I asked what was best. Really? I recommend Dogs and Cats in Bowie to everyone. Even the thought of AAVEC makes me sick. I really don’t know how any of them sleep at night. Wish they’d get shut down.

Business response:

We are unable to find any recent visits with our hospital under this name. Our staff cares for all the patients they see with as much love as their own pets. We wish you the best in your future visits with another hospital.

This hospital is beyond terrible. The service was terrible, the triage was a joke. I was literally in there from 11:30- noon ish to almost 6:00 and they didn’t take her back til 1:00 and then I didn’t get any updates or get to see her until 5:00, despite my asking over and over again. She was literally bleeding out all over. It was obviously a critical emergency. By the time I saw a vet ( not until 4:30 and she didn’t have my puppy with her ) I knew she had been bleeding all day. The woman was very cold, made me feel guilty ... read more

9+ hour wait for a splint and some bandages to be put on my dogs foot for a minor injury to her toe. Nothing surgical or extensive care required, but somehow cost me three invoices and $1013 before it was done. If it’s a choice between waiting for an appointment with anyone else or this place for “emergency care”, I would highly advise you to go elsewhere unless you have time and money to piss away.

Business response:

Bradley, we appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately, our veterinarians are limited to how many patients they can see at a given moment and clients may see varying wait times throughout the day. When your pet arrived, there were 5 other patients that were also waiting to be seen, in addition to the hospitalized patients in our ICU. Critical patients are prioritized and then stable patients are seen in turn. We ask for your understanding as our hospital staff works hard to attend to the needs of every pet that walks through ou... read more

My cat was sick and throwing up, couldn't keep anything down and was dehydrated. It was Saturday, after his regular vets office had closed. He had been suffering from constipation and anemia, the cause of which we had follow up appointments the next week to investigate. All I wanted was for him to receive an enema and some iv fluids. Years ago I had a cat with megacolon and this practice would take 2 hours max then we'd go home. They used a warm enema, directly as it is safer than medications. Not here, he was admitted, gi... read more

Business response:

Kelly, we’re saddened to hear about your pet’s passing. Our team works to provide the highest level of care to our patients. Please know we take your feedback seriously, someone from our team will be reaching out shortly.

I took some time to think about how to approach my feedback that you kindly reminded me about via text and email several times. Well here it is. I would not suggest anyone bring their pet to your establishment. The way we were treated and the care my dog received was despicable. My dog had a pretty severe seizure around 0330 in the morning. We loaded him the car and rushed him to the “emergency vet” that was over an hour away. We arrived at 0500 and the techs that came out to help get him were great, took him right ... read more

Business response:

We are sorry to hear about your negative experience at our clinic, Terry. We aim to provide exceptional care for both pets and pet owners, and apologize if we fell short in your case. As an emergency clinic, we do not have appointments so the wait times vary based on the volume of patients that are coming in and the severity of their illness. We appreciate your detailed feedback and it has been shared internally for review with our management team.

Very disappointing visit and will not ever take my pet to this clinic again. Sunday night at about 6pm my brothers 9 month old puppy starting throwing up. We had taken him to our primary vet earlier yesterday and they said they saw in an X ray that there looked like what seemed to be a toy lodged in his intestines. They were hoping it would pass but if he threw up again then to take him in. Following our vets orders, after him throwing up multiple times we decided to take him in to AAVEC for an emergency visit. He wouldn’t... read more

Trisha, thank you for your review. The appropriate team members have been made aware of your experience and will be reaching out to you soon.

I have to start off by saying we took our dog here once roughly 18 months ago and the experience was fantastic. The second time around not so much, the communication was just very poor. Long story short we had to bring our dog in and she needed xrays. We were told her xrays looked suspicious, which led to the decision to have her stay the night to be monitored and have a second xray later on. We were told over the phone the second xray would be between 6-7AM. Fast forward a few hours, we received a call at 6:15AM that our ... read more

Business response:

John we’re sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with us. We strive to offer exceptional customer service and care and are disappointed that you received unsatisfactory care. In reviewing the doctor's notes, the second set of radiographs were listed to be performed if indicated based on how your pet did overnight. Since your pet ate and was doing well, it seems that the additional radiographs were not necessary, which is great news!! We apologize for the miscommunication regarding this plan but are glad to hear th... read more
