After months of not using our memberships my wife and I called to cancel them during covid. Since my wife could not receive the vaccine because she was pregnant we asked multiple times to do this electronically to avoid coming in and protect our unborn child. They told me this was not an option and that I must continue to pay until she can come in and sign. My husband is on Active duty orders and is unable to use his Anytime Fitness membership. He has called and they stated they needed a certified letter via the mail for him to cancel. His intent was for me to do that for him then come to find out that certified means that he has to show his id to send this letter. I called and they said no we just need a letter but it needs to have this information in it. I was happy to oblige and go forward. They scammed me. When I signed up, the lady said I could cancel anytime. I even read everything I signed, and it did not mention I was committed to a membership. I explained the situation to a higher up regional guy, but he did not care or did not believe me.Other than that, it's a nice gym.Tip for other people who want out: My contract (yours may be different) says that Anytime Fitness can cancel the contract at any time for any reason. I was a member since winter of 2014. I was always kind & respectful to the staff. When I was promoted at work in 2018, it was getting difficult for me to stay active each year but kept paying membership. I stopped in to work out once every 2 months or 3 months. I signed up my son with me in 09/2021 & he came with me 3 times. I decided to drop his membership in the beginning of 07/09/2022 & left a voicemail.
