This is the sister bar to the speakeasy a panda and sons aroUBS the corner. A fine pedigree. The food was good but all agreed it lacked seasoning universally. More tasting please chefs. The only other niggle is that there are no wines sub £25 on the wine list. This does not make for a cheap meal.
Ordered from A La Carte menu which was very good. Found bit expensive as 2 of the party had steaks and then had to add price of vegetables etc. Runner beans were the choice and were a bit stringy. I had the Sea Bass which was spot on and loved the presentation. Really enjoyed the wine and price was acceptable for centre of town. Sweets were chosen by 2 and were lovely. I would go back again but I would choose the set menus'. They looked much better value for money at lunch time. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Service a bit hit & miss, i.e forgot drinks, took meal to wrong table, didn't ask how food was. However, I'm sure this will be ironed out as restaurant becomes more established. Chicken pie was OK, but could have done with more chicken. Partner was not impressed with Sunday roast being served on wooden board with grease-proof paper as paper ripped to pieces when he cut the meat.
A friend recommended I go here for lunch with a friend. We heard the couple on the table next to us say the pie was 'the best they'd ever tasted'. So obviously we had to check this out for ourselves. And it didn't disappoint. Service was great and very reasonable. We'll be back.
Was really looking forward to our night out at Badger & Co. On arrival the bar staff were really helpful and showed myself and my husband to our table despite being early. We were waiting for four other friends. Eventually after a long wait we had to ask to be served some drinks and were given 2 menus to browse. When the other guests arrived no further menus were offered and we had to share 2! This set the pattern for the evening. We had to constantly call the waiting staff over to ask for drinks or the sweet menu etc. They ... read more
Service, food, drink and location all 100%. Great staff, will be back next week.
Lovely atmosphere, good value for money
Good food but the soup was not very hot. Everything else was lovely
We went by chance having found it on the App whilst walking in Edinburgh. The staff were excellent and we had a clean table straight away. Good selection of beers, both draught and bottled, not many ciders (sadly for my wife) but gin cocktails to make up for it. Food was quirky takes on Scottish traditional fayre but worked well. Plenty of food and came to the table hot. There is music but it was pleasant and not too intrusive. There is a quieter bar area and some hidden tables which would suit a group. Would recommend
