We both had pies; chicken and beef. They were good although we wouldn't call the gravy "hearty" in the beef one. Staff were friendly and overall we enjoyed our dinner
Good restaurant, tasty good but poor service
We have not tried this place before, but we're given vouchers as a gift. Took friends from Liverpool, and all had a great time. There was a slightly off-putting incident in the bar area, when the 15 year old boy in our company was asked for ID then told to wait outside the bar...we had been asked to wait there while our table was prepared. When the supervisor saw what had happened, he took the drinks off the bill, without being asked. Very impressive, and the rest of service was spot on. Food delicious, the battered fish was... read more
Our first visit to Badger & Co, popping in for lunch on a Friday having just arrived into Edinburgh that morning. Situated on Castle Street, Badgers pays homage to its location, being the former home of the author of The Wind in the Willows, with plenty of badger motifs, paintings alongside and other Victorian anthropomorphic images. It's a nice place to be; open, bright and busy over the lunch period. This is the second time I have been to Badger. The set lunch was excellent on the first visit but second time around although the main course was good quality the soup of the day (leek and potato) was quite disappointing and tasteless.
Good food, nice staff, nice ambiance, but service e was a bit slow. Try them for a pie or a finnis haddie!
Great value set price lunch menu in a quirky yet friendly city centre venue. Well worth a visit. Avoid the big chain restaurants nearby and give the little guys a chance- you won't be disappointed.
I had a low-key birthday meal with my wife at Badger & Co. It was a bit of an afterthought as I had already celebrated the night before, so wasn't really expecting much. I'm glad I went now as the food was great - I had a lovely shin of beef to start, and a very hearty pork and chorizo casserole - just what I needed to perk me up. The beer was excellent - they do Brewgooder. As a really nice touch, the chap who was looking after us asked if we wanted desert - when we said no (as we were absolutely stuffed) he popped over wit... read more
First time at Badger & Co. it was a really great experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Let us move table to one at the window. Also let us dine earlier than our reservation. Food was excellent. Cocktails and beer choices were good. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Badger & Co. I would recommend this restaurant.
