I am a very happy resident of Berkley House. I moved to Columbus in August and then in here in November and I have made great friends and found the front desk staff helpful, kind and knowledgeable. I saw Sandra L.'s review, but I haven't seen the same issues - and I am not sure when the first month is they opened here - but it was around August. This building's management has let service quality collapse completely, routinely losing residents' packages and then refusing to do the bare minimum of checking security cameras to figure out where they went.

Nice surroundings, awesome amenities on site: GYM, pool tables, arcade, indoor mail access, year round pool. Staff always professional andnice. Convenient and close to everything. Cons, In the last couple months in the parking lot car windows broken out by would be thieves, catalytic converter stolen/other. Crime map in area shows green for low crime but three cars (of the known incidents in last couple months) had windows broken. It would benefit the complex to have it monitored from midnight to 7 am. Let me start by saying the apartment itself is just okay. I've stayed at better and worse. It's nothing out of the ordinary and you pay for what should be a lot more. The staff was always great, but overall it was an average apartment complex. The real issue with them and the parent company is when you leave. If you want to be charged for ridiculous cleaning fees and to replace the carpet for no particular reason upon move out, then this is the place for you. If you want to be surrounded by constant noise and marijuana usage, this is the place! Drug deals and fires being set in the middle of the night make this for a very unpleasant place to live. Management is aware of rampant marijuana usage throughout the building, and does nothing. Management is also too cheap to install security cameras. We are so looking forward to moving out of Berkley House. The lobby area is great, but that is as far as it goes. Apartment finishes are inferior quality, and noise is a real problem. When we spoke to the people at the reception desk about the noise from the apartment above us we got a condescending "you must not have lived in an apartment before". I lived at the Berkley House for a year, and I am advising anyone looking to move in NOT TO DO IT! The apartments look great from the outside and they are pretty on the inside, but for how much one pays to live here it is not worth it. I could hear everything my upstairs neighbors were doing (including having sex) because the walls are so thin and the structure so cheap. If I could rate Preferred Living and Berkley House lower than one star, I would. Worst experience I have ever had with an apartment complex and from the looks of the reviews I'm not the only one. Don't be fooled by their "luxury apartment suites" it is not worth the money, the extra 30% in bills, the added fees you get upon move out (that you are not informed about until 2 months later, after not receiving a move out statement, phone call, email, or letter), or dealing with RUDE staff at the complex and the corporate office.... read more

My Father sent me to to Berkley House (BH) to see if it would be a good fit for my sister who was moving to Ohio from Southern California. Whilst on the tour I was shown the beautiful amenities of BH. I asked if they allowed dogs. I was told that all dogs were allowed as long as they were not considered an " aggressive breed". After the lease was signed they told my sister that she couldn't have her dog because of his size. I specifically asked about size restrictions and I was told there were none.
