Hubby and I along with our neighbors went to the new Black Bear Diner in Chico last night. Let's just say we will not be back. Hubs ordered the TRI tip with shrimp. 3 small slices of meat and three of the smallest shrimp I've ever seen. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was so over cooked that it was tough. My neighbor ordered the ribs with shrimp. He liked the ribs. He had the same opinion of the shrimp. His daughter ordered the pot roast with a side of broccoli florets. Food was mostly ok aside from the terribly prepared hollandaise. Broken and lacking flavor at all and eggs Benedict was completely covered in this terrible sauce. Service was mediocre with all items provided after a few gentle reminders. I will not be going back.

Went in for breakfast today, and needless to say I am disappointed. My pancakes were very dry and crumbly, scrambled eggs were yellow with no kind of other color on them. The bacon was the highlight of the meal. The friends I was dining with also did not have the best experience with their food. It took over an hour for us to receive our food, and I noticed other tables that were sat after us received their food before we did. I'll start with 2 stars only because their staff were kind and helpful. They deserve to be recognized. I can only hope their wages reflect the ridiculous food prices on the menu. There are a few issues starting with a safe way to enter the restaurant! The maze to safely enter the front door is ridiculous. You're forced to navigate through an outdoor seating area or step out into parking lot traffic without safety lighting or walkway. We waited 30 minutes for service. Even longer for our order. The eggs over medium had incredibly runny egg whites. The country potatoes we ordered came as hash browns, which were not seasoned. The booth next to us had the same complaints. The kind waitress was clearly overworked and very apologetic. She mentioned that other tables had similar complaints. The manager comped our meal. They offered us a free replacement meal and free dessert. They've been open 12 days and maybe they're working out the kinks.

My husband and I just ate here the service was slow and when we got are food it was cold. I am not impressed.

Waited 30 mins @ our table for any kind of service, recognition, acknowledgement,, offer of beverage,, but to no avail. As we departed, the table behind us also decided to leave as they had been ignored for an hour, even after speaking to a manager. I love Black Bear Diner, and was so happy to see the Chico location open up- but the front of the house needs to figure out customer service real quick, or sadly, I won't be returning. As we departed and handed the menu back to the hostess, we did get an insincere "sorry".
