In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. We ate breakfast and everyone in our party was impressed. They are very busy but still take care of their patrons. Will return again.

I wish I could give it SIX, great pan cakes, eggs, everything. Love this place. The pancakes are really special at this place. It's not too big and it's hard to get to because of the traffic off of 35 but it is a place to go to good food nice settings with all the bears around great service.

I would give the service (servers) 5 star and also the food, but the cleanliness is a concern (not for them!). The very first impression I got upon being taken to our booth was the nastiness of the carpet. I am not a complainer but this was over the top. It immediately turned me off. I thought surely the busser or the manager would clean it up, but no. It made me wonder about the kitchen. A busser did reset the 3 tables across from us, only improving the appearance of the top but not the nastiness underneath. There w... read more

The food, service is amazing. They have sausage they make in house that is an up charge but well worth it. There are a lot of choices on the menu. The environment has a good country vibe. When you enter, I no longer feel like I'm in Texas. Do tastebuds a favor and give this place a shot.
