The food was great, and very on par with Black Bear Diner. The wait staff, however, was VERY rude!

For starters y’all, don’t order to go from here. They prep your food, put it in the bag, and let it sit on the benches in the waiting area where everyone has to come in and congregate while trying to maneuver through the terrible table check in process. But today, we came in and checked in, got the notification that we were ready, sat down, and waited 8 minutes for the waitress to walk by and tell us she’d be with us shortly. Sat for an hour, food did not come out. A couple that came in at the same time as we did finished their meal and left before we ever got our food.

I’ve eaten here several times and tonight made me not want to go back. Dinner was very awkward because we had to spend the entire meal listening to one of the kitchen staff cuss and yell about how much she hated her job and just wanted to quit. She went on and on about how she was a server not a cook, didn’t know what she was doing, and was tired of this #%{ and wanted to get the #%^ out. First time at restaurant and I wasn’t sure if I was suppose to seat myself or wait because there was no sign so I waited about 5-7 minutes as decided to seat myself because the staff kept walking past me. My waitress Katherine or Kat was beyond rude and nonchalant from the start. She didn’t greet me. She just walked up and said do you need a menu. I said yes and she just walked away. You order all the catfish you can eat. They bring out 3 big hush puppies, a large order of fries, and 3 small pieces of catfish- looked like chicken nuggets from McDonald’s.

I generally love black bear diner. My wife and I have eaten at the Katy, Tx location at least twice/month since it opened. The service and the food is typically great. This morning we arrived shortly after opening and waited ~5 minutes to be acknowledged whilst standing at the podium.
