In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Horrible from the start. Mass confusion with hostess. Took forever to get food which came out warm at best. No attention from waitress. Had to repeatedly ask for refills etc. Food came out hot finally but was wrong. Also, if you have a 8 year old daughter, as I, you might want to accompany them to the bathroom. The Black Bear Diner has an employee that is one gender and identifies as another. Its difficult to explain to an 8 year old girl why a “guy” is coughing in the womens restroom...

It's really sad , we went there on Christmas day looking for a home cooked dinner only to have no server show up to take our order. Sad thing was is the food really looked awesome !
The food was good but the waitress was not very good I will go back again with a different waitress
