You want Brady and his team in your corner.
I'll spare you the life story and just say that my girlfriend and I work in software sales in SF in start-up cultures... we're not living in a slow-paced world where deadlines are a suggestion and everyone blends into the average. For better or for worse, nature and nurture has conditioned us to be pretty selective in who we work with based pretty much on only four factors, roughly in this order:
1. Are they as impatient yet flexible as we are?
2. Does what they're offering make business sense (i.e. is it a financially competitive option)?
3. Are they reliable, thorough, and knowledgable enough not to mess things up or annoy us?
4. Are they not a jerk?
Brady and his team fit these critical criteria to an absolute tee. We talked to big banks, medium banks, mortgage lenders, crappy internet mortgage companies, a local loan originator etc. and got to pre-approval level stages with several of them. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that Brady and his team were the best option not just as a whole, but on each of our criteria individually as well. In the end, a no-brainer.
Brady's response times and turnaround times were epic - his coordination with our agent team was excellent - critically valuable in the competitive Bay Area market.
He broke down the finances for us in clear and easily understandable terms, and what he was able to offer in terms of rates, fees, buydown points etc. was on par with or better than the best offers we could possibly find in all our digging. Truth is, even if they weren't the most competitive, I'd still urge you to pick Brady and his team because reliable, talented, impatient professionals are worth paying more for.
Brady and his team knew what to do, sent thorough instructions, and set expectations clearly. They followed through on hitting every commitment on time, on a few occasions responding to emails in late evenings or weekends to share updates or confirm details. To inject even an ounce of
not-me-fanboying-about-this-team into this review, I will say in fairness there were some incredibly minor mistakes/confusions/crossed wires that ended up being caught right away anyway, nothing that was actually an issue. At the end of it all, Brady and his team probably deserve a 98% for accuracy in process, and 105% (yes, bonus points) when it comes to reliability, responsiveness, and turnaround speeds. In fact when you compare Team Thomas vs everyone else in the mortgage world we interacted with, that quality gap is comically large. We interacted with people who took days to respond, missed every deadline or commitment or expectation they themselves set, even one who lashed out defensively about their "working style" when given direct feedback that their constant failure to meet their own set expectations was not going to work for us. Team Thomas was the opposite of all of these things.
And at the end of it all, they all just seem like good people doing good work - they donate out of their proceeds at every funded loan closing, and have donated nearly $150,000 to charities in the last few years.
For all these reasons, Brady and Team Thomas earn my highest recommendation.
