We get into the city about 6 times a year and always try to get in to Brooklyn Diner. This time I made reservations before hand and we were escorted right in. It's pretty much the best diner in the world and a really fun place to dine if you can get in. Brunch was especially delicious this time. Highly recommend!
Having now been there 4-5 times, everything has been very good and consistent. I am owrking my way through the menu and I and my guests have enjoyed everything this is quality food, decent setting and good service - not cheap, but it is good and large portions.
Excellent food. The restaurant has a classy 50s vibe. Make sure to make a reservation.
The service was very professional, but also genuine and we all loved our food. Best pastrami in town. Server did a neat drink pour that my friends were so impressed with.

inherently nothing wrong with the diner. but this is NYC, and it's expensive for what it is. that being said, the food was good, etc.
The ambiance of the original Brooklyn Diner on 57th Street is great if you're looking for an example of a 'true diner'. I've been going to the diner for over 15 years, finding one late night in New York City after a long day that lasted into the late evening. Right next to Carnegie Hall, the diner attracts concert goers and tourists, as well as the regulars. I love this place with the old school diner feel but with way above average diner food. It is more upscale than a typical diner and offers more gourmet type options
