Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (4 to 6 years experience) who will serve as the technical lead for a product area or set of services. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, owning system design, execution quality, and delivery outcomes.

You will work closely with Product, Design, Data, and Platform teams while guiding engineers and setting technical direction. 

Key Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for one or more core product areas or services
• Own architecture, design decisions, and implementation quality for backend and frontend systems
• Lead the delivery of end-to-end features, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Design and scale backend services and APIs for high-traffic, production environments
• Drive frontend implementation standards with a focus on performance, usability, and consistency
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities (LLMs, search, recommendations, automation, analytics) into product workflows
• Review code and designs, unblock engineers, and maintain a high engineering bar
• Partner with Product to break down requirements, plan execution, and deliver on commitments
• Own production readiness, monitoring, and operational excellence for your systems

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong expertise in backend development (Java, Python, or similar)
• Solid hands-on experience with frontend frameworks (React or equivalent)
• Practical experience integrating AI/ML services or APIs (LLMs, embeddings, search, etc.)
• Strong understanding of system design, databases, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
• Proven ability to lead technical execution without direct people-management responsibilities
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound trade-offs
• Clear communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI platforms (OpenAI, Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock)
• Exposure to microservices, event-driven systems, or data pipelines
• Experience building and scaling SaaS products
• Prior experience acting as a tech lead or owning critical services
