There are some decent vets at Caring hands, however overall this company doesn't provide customer service or help solve issues. Disappointing overall.

About two years ago, I took my cat here 5 or more times in about 3 months, and they were milking me for money because they knew that I cared about my cat. I followed their recommendations each time, paid for every thing, and they had no idea what was wrong and kept doing the same things and telling me to monitor my cat for worsening symptoms and to come back. My cat became in critical condition, so I took her to a different place, and the other vet determined she had a food allergy and recommended an enema within one appoint... read more

This Vet is a joke! We brought our dog to this Vet thinking they would be better than our previous Vet. Not true! Our dog has Cushings and we noticed he was lethargic, losing his eyesight and peeing in the house more. We brought our dog here for the first time. After looking at him the Vet said he probably has cancer and he's going to need all this bloodwork to figure it out and then we have to make an appointment with their specialist. Granted, we want to get our dog the treatment that he needs, but they were trying to get ... read more

This hospital has fallen from grace, they used to be one of the best around. Staff does not ask the owner questions any more, approaching the Dog from behind with out properly introducing themselves to the Dog. Wearing masks which from most dogs is just another barrier. Doctors assistant was very nervous and timid and makes me wonder why even work in a animal hospital. I will be taking my three dogs and a rabbit else where, changing hospitals, never going back. Also letting FOHA know things have changed at Caring Hands and ... read more

Be warned this vet does not care. I took my cat in for an open wound. No tests performed, despite labs drawn. I was charged, too. They care about money not the animals.

We have been going to Caring Hands in Centreville for a long time. The care has been okay over the years and they definitely are not cheap!! The care our dog received recently has made us leave Caring Hands for good!!! Our dog had an ear infection in her right ear. We saw Dr. Megan Clendenin. Dr. Clendenin treated our dog with an ear packing called Oti-Pak (at no time were we told about the possible side effects of Oti-Pak). Our dogs ear did not seem to get better after waiting several weeks. We took her back for a rec... read more

We've always taken our dog and cat to caring hands in Alexandria and Arlington, but now that we moved to this area, we took our cat and saw Dr. Elizabeth Vander Vennet. MISTAKE. It was just a yearly checkup and she starts trying to push my husband to purchase that horrible Hill's diet nasty food. Just because she never heard of the food I feed my cat, which by the way, I have always done extensive research on to make sure I give her only the best, REAL meat. Here she's trying to push this food on us when it is full of disgus... read more

Thank you for sharing your concerns. Our veterinarians do commonly recommend well-tested national brand diets, but we don't get any type of financial incentive from them for this. I am happy to put an alert on your account that you prefer a different veterinarian if you'd like. I would like to speak with you more in depth about your concerns - please call me at your convenience at 703-830-5700. -Jennifer Riley, Practice Manager

The doctors and technicians are fine. My problem is with billing. We were provided an estimate for surgery that we signed. The actual bill was higher. We were told they forgot to add items to the estimate. We were forced to pay the higher bill by the practice manager. Oh well. There lose for a few extra bucks. We will move on to another vet. No shortage of vets in Centreville.

2 stars is being generous. I took my dog there because he had a rash on his stomach, the doctor I saw, name started with an L suggested getting a fungal culture to test for a skin fungal infection and that we were going to give him medication to treat the rash for the fungal infection just in case. The doctor told us that after 3 days if there was no growth the chances of the rash being fungal would be low. After 3 days she called and said that there was no growth and the rash was not from a fungal infection. Then she called... read more

Business response:

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention, and for speaking with me yesterday. We understand that skin issues (let alone holidays, weddings, and travel on top) can be incredibly frustrating to deal with. I do apologize for any miscommunication between our doctor and your family and you. We were glad to hear that the medication prescribed was helping, and hope your pup continues to improve.
