CFI Academy is one of the very few flight schools in the country focused solely on producing Certificated Flight Instructors. The owner/principle instructor (Prince) provides the mentoring, oversight, equipment, and FAA examiner scheduling in a small group setting (3-8 students per class). I was struggling to find a school where I could do an intensive CFI course. CFI Academy is both affordable and flexible and allowed me to work intensively on my own schedule and I successfully passed my CFI checkride. You will be expected to study on your own and I highly recommend taking both of the written exams prior to attending the course so that you can focus on learning how to teach and practicing the skills as you learn them. *Update: 12/30/2018. I took on a student this month that had been flying with a different instructor for a few months now. I noticed that he wasn’t understanding me when I talked of basic aerodynamics, such as left turning and adverse yaw. Our next lesson was devoted to ground training going over the basics. He had heard them before, but didn’t understand. Thanks to my training at CFI Academy, I knew how to explain the “Why” of flight, and have been since I started teaching.
