Dr. Middlested and the rest of the staff at Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists are superb animal care professionals. Finnegan, a retired service dog, received excellent care when he needed a second surgery to repair a leaking intestinal suture from a first surgery to remove an intestinal obstruction. Dr Roa and all the Staff at CVSS Annapolis are just amazing! Everyone took such wonderful care of our Izzy and showed so much care, it made the entire experience so much easier. Izzy had TPLO surgery yesterday and came home today, she is resting now and doing very well.
They take pride in the seriousness of the surgery that has to be done on your pet. They also do check up calls to make sure everything is going ok.
These guys really know their stuff! They always work in the best interest of the animals, and monitor them closely to make sure there is the lowest possible chances for risk. They partner with the ER department to make sure the animals have 24hr care. Without a doubt, reccomend!

Dr. Wolfe told us Lizy could still go on her trip to Shenandoah this year after her Colon torsion surgery. I can’t thank CVSS enough for taking such good care of my 13 year old baby girl. Here she is 5 weeks out of surgery. Short hikes at her age but she is pulling us and doing great with naps in between! I know this is my second review but we are all so happy.
A little over a year ago, after 2 highly recommended veterinary ER facilities botched caring for my recently adopted dog Pogo, my personal vet called CVSS and discussed his case asking that someone take us seriously. Dr. Burgess did. Our dog was on his OR table shortly after we arrived and thanks to the skill and devotion of CVSS, Pogo (the dog who would have died without a doubt if we'd waited one more night to act, which is what the other facilities recommended) is running around like a crazy man today.
