I was running late for my daughters appointment so I called in 10 minutes before the appointment, I was on hold for over 16 minutes, which isn't bad. But I decided to walk into the office while still on hold only to see one gal actually working (on the phone) while the other three were just chatting away. The staff that was on the phone had to ask them to please get us checked in. I still kept the phone going.. only to hear them answer other calls they had on hold! We've been going to this office for the past 2.5 years. There used to be good doctors and good staff and this location, but since Oct most of the good doctors are staff are gone and the new ones are horrible. We waited for about 1 hour today in the waiting room , had the worst experience dealing with the nurse (for toddler vaccines and blood draw) who either didn't have any experience working with children or she just didn't care. Never going back again.

I called to schedule a first appointment and was on hold waiting with their automated message "thank you we look forward to serving you" for about 20 minutes before giving up. If this is what it's like being a patient, no thanks.

The medical care is fine however, I'm writing this review because the Coastal Kids Laguna Niguel location is the worst front desk service I have ever experienced for a medical office. I have small children and I call first thing in the morning at 8 AM when their office opens to try to get an appointment but I end up holding for 20-30 minutes before somebody even picks up. That's too bad and too sad that they have such bad customer service with the front desk and I've even attempted to talk to a manager but nobody bothered to... read more

Im writing this review "regarding sylvia". Ive been coming to coastal kids since my kids were born. 9,7,5. We see Dr. Hererra normally. I get that pediatric offices are overwhelmed, but today I needed an appointment for tomorrow for my two girls to be reseen. We were in urgent care Saturday as Coastal Kids had no availability then. Sylvia was very quick to tell me "she was the office manager" and she could not schedule me until next week! There were no exceptions according to her. I have waited over a year to share this horrible experience, but was encouraged to share because I would never want another mom to experience what I did at Coastal Kids. My son was born on 3/30 at 36 weeks. I was tested for GBS the day before my water broke, so I was treated as if I was positive in the hospital. Come to find out I was negative. Regarding Medical care,the one positive would be Gene the Nurse practitioner is very through, kind, down to earth and we had a genuine care from her and her assistant that day. Office experience-I am writing a review in the hope of change. You feel worse than a number here, you feel like a burden. What a shame. My whole family( cousins included) have been patients of dr a below it's for 25 some odd years. Back when it was one office in Newport Beach. The corporate greed and lack of care has officially taken hold here. Multiple offices, revolving doors with staff and doctors, obviously unhappy staff that can care less about their jobs or their patients. I should have known better then to continue as a patient. This review is for front desk. I called the office today to get a refill on my son's antibiotics and Selena was very unpleasant, unprofessional not willing to assist in any way. I shared my frustration with her and she hung up the call. I called back to talk to the office manager Heidi and she had the same attitude. We love Dr Salter, she is the best, too bad the front desk is ruining the experience at Coastal Kids.
