My mixed breed dog had bilateral luxating patellas, severely bowed femurs and a fractured hip joint from a displaced growth plate (though we didn't know the hip part at the time). By the time he was 18 months old he'd had 3 surgeries and I'd pretty much given up on him ever walking without pain.
