I am an indigent military veteran. I am in Madison, WI. I hired Cordell & Cordell to help. I told them to assign the cheapest attorney they have. They assigned 2 attorneys to my case without my permission and charged me for both. They charged me over $3000 for one hearing during a 7 day period. They charged me $300 for copies of documents I provided to them myself.

Cordell and Cordell are really looking after fathers. As long as they have a huge bank account. I hired them to handle my child support hearing because I had gotten behind on payments when I lost my job. I was supposed to meet my attorney a week beforehand but he cancelled on me. Then we rescheduled for the day before the hearing. He cancelled again. Then he told me he would get to the courthouse early to meet with me before. He was late. If I could leave less than 1 star I would. These guys are horrible. I hired Cordell and Cordell for my divorce. The attorney that was assigned to me was negligent and incompetent. He made numerous mistakes while working on my divorce and all the while he continued to bill me for this. The attorney assigned to me also gave me incorrect advice about spousal support and duration. My personal opinion about this law firm? They are so so horrible that I have no words to express or describe them. I gave up fighting them and pay. Because they are not worth my time. They will screwed up really badly, they will lie and charge your account to the max. We were trying to find an attny that would help us. It cost $125 for a 15 minute consult just to have them spend the entire time talking about how much it would cost for them to represent us. You have 2 choices for a retainer and their attny fees start at $279 an hour. How is a person making minimum wage expected to pay that! One hour of their time is a weeks worth of pay. Decided to look around. Ridiculous!!

I should've read the reviews before I retained this firm. Do not and I repeat do not hire this firm. Absolutely waste of money. The Lawyer they reference in the only good reviews posted doesn't even work for them. Gee I wonder why. You're better off doing things by yourself than paying these people. Complete waste of my time and my money. Hopefully someone will see this and take the majority of the reviews advice. DO NOT HIRE THIS LAW FIRM FOR ANY REASON. They actually deserve no stars.

I'm a lawyer, and I fired Cordell & Cordell for unethical practices. Go to any other firm. Their marketing about being in the best interests of fathers is a joke -- the only thing that matters to Cordell & Cordell is more fees. They repeatedly ignored the documents I provided to them, and pushed my case forward to a hearing even though I told them I wanted to settle on certain issues. Why? More billable hours for them.
