In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. RecommendedJust came back from lunch and the Hamburgers were awesome, and the waitress who was just learning did a great job. Very friendly, great atmosphere. Second time there will definitely go back.
We’ve dined here several times, all have been excellent experiences. We’ve had Brenda as our server on two occasions & she has been amazing! Brenda has provided excellent customer service, has a sense of humor, very personable & attentive.

I’ve avoided it like the plague up to this point because I find everything about it aesthetically displeasing—the bland colors, the garish wooden lawn animals, the inexplicably unappetizing font on the signage—but enough people had waxed rhapsodic about the quality of the food to me that I finally relented. Food is fantastic here!! Nice comfortable environment and excellent staff. Especially our beautiful waitress Brenda! She was such a delight! She was friendly and on top on it! She gave us fantastic service! We are definitely coming again!! If you come, remember to ask for Brenda to be your waitress!!!
