In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. I've eaten a couple and both had wonderful food. They need to open one in Escondido. There is a Cocos that just shut down that would be perfect.
Follow up on my June 11th post. I tried the food at the original Black Bear Diner in Shasta last week and this morning ordered the same plate from our new Black Bear Diner here in Simi. I'm annoyingly gabby with folks and the manager up there wanted to know how they compare. I wanted to know. Sausage Patty Breakfast. Delicious! Great service! Same Recipe! Hot food! Hot Coffee! Brenda was our server. She’s very attentive and made sure our drinks were never empty. Everything tastes great and price was excellent

Really good food...service is not the best, most times. But there is usually a gigantic long wait for a reason. If you have that kind of time on a particular day, the food is worth it.
