TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

Good chicken with a drive thru option, but not quite fast food. Located in the same mini mall as the Dollar Tree and Burger King, Dave's Hot Chicken has a convenient drive thru, great for someone whose dog likes to ride along to everything. I ordered the combo that included a slider (hot) and fries. I also ordered a strawberry shake for my husband. The slider was good. I liked the kale slaw. As someone who's experienced Dave's on the west coast you couldn't imagine my hype when they announced they would be in Tampa. Typically when businesses branch out across the country the experience is not as memorable in my experience. Not this visit though !! Dave's is still just as great as I remember it. The chicken is brined and fried to perfection and you get that savory sweet spice mix that Nashville is known for. I've been hearing good things about Dave's and decided to check it out recently. It is a bit pricey when you look at the menu board, but the tenders are almost entire breast size. I tried the slider and asked for no slaw or Dave's sauce on it. It didn't have any slaw, but there was definitely Dave's sauce on it. Overall, a great chicken tender and the lite mild had just enough spice and seasoning without being overpowering.

Best. Chicken. Sandwich. Ever. 10/10. Both my husband and I said the same thing. I got the "lite mild" and I was so glad it was what it said it was. It had the perfect hint of spice without being over-powering. They had honey and Dave's sauce which were amazing with the fries and sandwiches.

This place is amazing. It takes a little time at the drive through but worth the wait. My only issue is I wish they had a heat level between extra hot and reaper. Always order extra Dave's sauce
