We arrived, and it was super packed (which is to be expected for a Saturday night). We went to bar to kill the wait time. Mike, the bartender, was awesome. We ended up waiting an hour and a half, even after we spoke to the hostess twice to let her know that they were seating people who came in after us (and continued to do so). Horrible experience. .. not even a 1 start. Called ahead got a shuttle from our hotel. Once we got there was told 15 mins tops , waited about 2 hours to find out they forgot about us and then waited another 30 mins had to speak to the hostest twice then got get told they would take care of us. after dinner was told that the way we would be taken care was a discount ticket of 25% our NEXT meal ... like ill ever go back ... food was good but not worth the problems and disrespect. ... we tried to talk to management and they cou... read more
I have a child with severe food allergy to dairies and anything that may contain milk. We had explained that to the staff and my wife made sure that the message is delivered to the kitchen. We started with a soup that we again asked and they confirmed that it is milk free however with the first sip my boy started to have an allergic reaction so my wife insisted to check with the chef who insisted that the soup had no milk at all. The place was WAY TO LOUD with music that is!!!!!! It was more like a night club then a restaurant!!!! We went for Mother's Day and had a huge family group with us about 12 and couldn't hear the person sitting next to you!! I asked twice for them to lower it!!! I said why so loud !!?? We didn't stay long. I was really turned off when the owner informed me that active casino players from Mt. Airy get 10% off their bill. However a veteran of the US military gets 0%? How does that work? The men and women who sacrificed their lives are over shadowed by those that play at a casino? (Active duty gets 15%). His response was "every one is a veteran." Food was fantastic, but my table was only halfway through our meal when the check was unceremoniously dropped on the table. They started clearing our plates while we were still eating off of them - no clue why, half the restaurant was empty. Like I said, food was great but it certainly wasn't worth feeling like we were being booted out the door prematurely. Probably won't be coming back unfortunately!
My best friend took my three kids and I along with her and her two kids there on a Friday night after we had taken my oldest son for cancer testing. After walking in the door and being there for about two minutes I got up to take my son to the bathroom and walked by the owner who was pointing at our table telling 2 gentlemen they wouldn't want to sit by those f****** kids pointing at our table! While food was excellent...my 15 year old daughter and her friends were taken advantage of. Desaki and the managers destroyed her bank card and created a financial nightmare for her. Two days later the problem is not not fixed...no apologies made and I am disappointed that a place that charges so much has failed to rectify a problem they created!!!! Don't go there!
I have been to desaki once. The worst sushi/hibachi restaurant I've ever been to. It's inviting from the outside, much like an overdecorated department store that only carries secondhand clothing. We were seated near a window and had to keep our coats on, no one asked us If we were ok or for our drink order until we flagged someone down.
