My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Pena's forever, but at some point, his practice was purchased by THE most atrocious corporation ever! It was always nearly impossible to get an appointment with Dr. Pena because he's so awesome, but ever since that purchase, it IS impossible. This new company is as sleazy as they come. Doctor Appointment are over a month and a half away. Decided to see other doctor I'm same office and after arriving early still had to wait a hour and a half after original appointment time.
Dr. Pena is just the best, however his phone staff is the worst. You can try to reach them for a referral or refill of RX and it takes hours and they still get it wrong. The only good thing about Cano Medial services is Dr. Pena!
We chose Dr. Pena for his experience and reviews and we tried to become in his new patients. However, we did not have the oportunity to experience with him due to his irresponsable staff did not respect our apointment (May 16, 2019 at 2:00 PM), scheduled from early March 2019. His office holding me hostage for my cholesterol medication forcing me to go in for visit when I had one less than one year ago. Explained to his office I have high deductible plan and could not afford multiple visits and lab work just to renew basic prescription yet they continue to refuse. Now am out of medication due to their greed and will find new doctor who cares more for my heath than earning fees.
Dr. Pena is excellent! His office staff, however, are lazy, irresponsible, dont pick up the phone, speak at 100 mph, arrogant, and insensitive to patients over the phone. Dr. Pena gets 5 stars. His office staff, however, puts him down to two stars. Fire the management there, hire a real manager, and put those people in the office to work for patients not against patients. Because the truth is, they are hurting Dr. Pena's professionalism in the work place.
If I had known of the wait time, I would have picked another doctor as my PCP! My first visit, I waited 2.5 hours and was charged $106 for a visit that was FREE with my insurance (staff was unbothered & offered no help; I had to file a claim with my insurance to get it back (3 weeks for refund). I had blood work done and an appointment afterwards for results. The appointment was 8:30AM & waited 3 hours to be seen. And the appointment was set as an annual physical (WRONG). Response to getting medications changed or filled is the worst I have ever had to deal with out of the few doctors I have had. Can never get an appointment without having to wait 2 months or more and when you do get an appointment, you have to wait up to 3 hours in the waiting room and then about an hour in the room before he comes in. Sometimes he is so rushed, you never get the full time you need. Whereas others get the full amount of time the need, which is not right!
I was disappointed I was unable to see the Dr after waiting for 2 months. I went at my scheduled time at 3PM and was told there were 3 patients ahead of me. Sat and waited to 5PM and walked out. His staff should be respectful of a person's personal time. If you know that the doctor spends x amount of time with each patient then why schedule patients to sit and wait for over 2 hrs, everyones time is precious.
