I was an Embrace customer since 2012 when my dog was a puppy. At first, they were an amazing company with attentive customer service and very reasonable rates. Within the last year or two, their customer service has become abysmal while their rates continue to price pet owners out of their service. Previously, while my premiums did increase year over year, the amount was negligible - perhaps a few cents extra a month. Now, all the sudden, my monthly premiums increase by nearly $20/month each year. When asked to explain these... read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This entire company is a joke. Typical insurance company that will do whatever it can to deny the claim. Even it means not following a previous appeal that was won. DO NOT do business with this company, you will 100% regret it when it comes time to use the insurance. Like another reviewer said, Embrace will place pre-existing conditions on your pet for ANYTHING you may have told your vet or any vet even if the notes are not verified by an exam or have been proven to be false and inaccu... read more

Without belaboring the details, I bought the insurance and submitted a claim about two weeks later. The claim wasn't process for THREE MONTHS; therefore, I missed the 30 day cancellation window. Then the company determines, based on my pet's records, that she showed symptoms of a disease that was later diagnosed. This* ***** * ***** *******. I've filed a complaint with my state insurance regulator.

Business response:

Hello, I would first off like to apologize for any dissatisfaction you have experienced with Embrace Pet Insurance and I will do my best to explain your claims. When a policy is first purchased, there is a 14-day illness waiting period with every policy, once the end of that 14-day illness period is up an email is sent out explaining that a medical history review may be requested. In this email, it explains that you are welcome to request a medical history review to determine if there are any pre-existing conditions, if a me... read more

Embrace Pet Insurance is literally the worst pet insurance company I have ever had the unfortunate displeasure of dealing with! I have been denied several claims due to what the company believes are "preexisting conditions" for both of my dogs, even though I have provided proof on letter head via my Vet each time and most recently a police report due to someone injuring 1 of my dogs. I have had other pet insurances the since 2014, but recently signed up ( Fall of 2019) with Embrace due to cheaper costs or so I thought. Every... read more

Consumer beware. They will take every little issue you mention to your veterinarian and slap a pre-existing condition onto it to exclude everything that may possibly relate to it from your policy. They excluded dental disease because our dog had plaque. They also excluded ALL dermatological conditions because our dog has allergies. Choose a company that won't use minor issues to deny your claims!

Business response:

Hi ********, I apologize for any frustration you have had with your Embrace policy and I will do my best to address your concerns. In regards to ******’s pre-existing conditions, a pre-existing condition is determined when reviewing a pet’s medical history. If there are any abnormalities found during exams, they are then listed as pre-existing. It was noted in ******’s medical history, prior to the policy start date, that she had a history of allergies. Allergies are a condition that require ongoing treatment throughout a pe... read more

You cant get them on the phone to get a quote...what's it like once they get your money???? I cant give a negative star, otherwise I would.

Business response:

Hello BBB, I would be happy to provide additional information for you regarding this complaint. Unfortunately, our phone lines have been busier than expected, which leads to longer hold times for our customers. We strive to address all our current and future clients concerns as quickly as possible. On 11/4/19, Ms. **********sent an email in stating that she could not get through our phone number. On the same day, another email was sent requesting that we call her to discuss questions she had before purchasing a policy. Embra... read more

I would give negative stars if I could. Like other 1 star reviews on this site, I had the same experience. I have two dogs, one super healthy, one with some congenital issues we never expected to have covered by insurance. We got a policy for both of them because we were concerned about them aging and hoped insurance would help with some of the routine trials that come with dogs. The occasional diarrhea and vomiting they sometimes get or any skin issues or ear infections. Routine stuff. I purchased a policy in August 2019, a... read more

My Pomeranian got Embrace Pet Insurance and her coverage began in mid-January 2019. At the beginning of April she had blood work done because I wanted to make sure she was fit to travel before I spent $6k to move her with me to Australia. Her blood tests came back normal, but her gallbladder levels were elevated and the vet suggested we do an ultrasound to determine the diagnosis. The ultrasound cost $550, so I sent Embrace a pre-certification form to verify the cost would be covered and they said it would be. After the ultr... read more
