Increasing policy premium for moving down the street. Seriously. I've been with Embrace for the better part of 2 years and have paid diligently and accepted their questionable rate increases. I've recently moved about 2 miles away into a new ZIP code and upon updating my mailing and billing address, Embrace tells me it'll raise my rates by about $22 to $139.99. This all due to an algorithm based around the pets home ZIP code. A price like I'm buying a new car or blender. NOTE: this price change even happens when I input the ... read more

Business response:

Hi **, I completely understand your frustration with the premium change related to zip code. When the move is that small, it is especially frustrating. The premium is based partly on where you live and in each state, zip codes are divided into territories similar to counties. Even though you moved only 2 miles away, it crossed that invisible "line" into a different zip code territory. If you'd like to adjust your coverage to bring your premium back down, we can definitely help with that, but unfortunately, we aren't able to ... read more

honestly, almost everything I read in the reviews is 100% accurate to what this insurance company is like. They steal and designate EVERYTHING as a preexisting condition. They are teamed with USAA and steal from service members. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Slow at processing claims and have stolen thousands from me. They also "Lost" my initial orthopedic evaluation and didn't consider it because it was under a "wellness" exam. They are not honest and I can see based on the comments going to be part of a huge class action laws... read more

I apologize that you are not satisfied with your Embrace policy for your pets. When a policy is first purchased, there is a 14-day illness waiting period and a 6-month orthopedic waiting period. Once the end of the 14-day illness waiting period is reached, an email is sent out explaining that a medical history review can be requested to determine if there are any illness pre-existing conditions, this was not the case for *****. If one is not requested, Embrace will not review any records until the first illness claim is rece... read more

Dishonest business. They have refused every claim for my pet! 1. Claim is routine annual physical and vaccinations, de-worming. No health problem whatsoever 2. The waiting periods for accident and illness have long since past. 3. The waiting period for orthopedic will be past in lest than a month. They requested - and I posted - every single health/visit record for my pet since adoption as an 8-week old puppy. Every. Single. Thing. Yet they deny the claim because it did not come from the vet?! This is a brand-new vet, he's o... read more

There is a very BIG difference between HAVING coverage as they will imply that you do, and being ELIGIBLE for coverage - the reality if what this is. They will charge you for "having coverage" when really you are only "eligible for coverage." When applying, I never went through the final step of including my pets medical records as I was busy with other things. This did not stop them from charging my card every month - (and first telling me that it was not charged because I hadn't updated my billing information, only to late... read more

Hello, I am sorry if there was any confusion with your policy. When a policy is first purchased, there is a 14-day illness waiting period and a 6-month orthopedic waiting period. Totally agree with previous posts about unfair denial of claims. We made a claim for our pup’s diarrhea. They denied on the basis that he had been treated for hookworm previously, well over a year before. They said that because he did not have a fecal exam on the visit we are claiming for, they couldn’t rule out hookworm as a possible cause. That could be true for any number of illnesses. The vet did not diagnose hookworm on that visit, and explicitly advised us against getting a fecal exam because he was confident the diarr... read more

Do not use this company for your pet’s insurance. They do everything in their power to deny the claim. They loosely unrelated issues to claim your pet has a pre existing condition. Do not waste your money here.

Business response:

I apologize that you were not satisfied with your Embrace policy for your pet. When a policy is first purchased, there is a 14-day illness waiting period and Embrace reviews a pet’s medical records from 12 months prior to the policy start date until the end of the 14-day illness waiting period. Any abnormalities noted in these records are then listed as a pre-existing condition. In Kodak’s case, his records were reviewed, and he was noted to have chronic vomiting on 11/3/20. There were additional visits on 4/5/21 and 4/13/21... read more

This insurance doesn't work for their customers - they work to protect their business and to never pay off a claim. My dog has damaged her leg. We went to an urgent care and did an X-Ray. Embrace Pet Insurance said they need a medical history from that urgent care for past 12 months. I never been to that urgent care before so we had no history there. Embrace said it will take longer time to process. And they never paid the claim off. Why do I pay them if they don't do their job? I regret that I was paying them for 2 years.

Business response:

I apologize that you were not satisfied with your Embrace policy for your pet. I did take a look at Ichigo’s policy and it does seem that her claim was processed and covered by Embrace. As her claim was suspected to be an orthopedic condition, Embrace had to review her medical history through the orthopedic waiting period to determine that she did not have any orthopedic pre-existing conditions. Once this review was complete, her claim was processed and paid. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach ou... read more

I want to warn others as I ended up paying 60.00 a month for over a year only to find that when I filed a claim I got the biggest run around. First they make you provide all medical history, what they don’t tell you is they interpret the minor of incidents as preexisting conditions that will never be covered. My dog had been in good health all his life and when I filed a claim for a removal of a skin tage they would cover it as when my puppy was younger he has an injury in his ear that I took him to the vet for because it wo... read more
