Stay away from Memorial if you have any choice. Definitely do not call customer service for answers to any problems. They are rude, have an attitude and not helpful at all. Should change the name of customer service to forget it. Very frustrating. Choose your doctors and specialists outside the memorial network.
Sad thing is if you live in Gulfport, MS this is the best you can get we just don't have decent hospitals down here. Medically they were better than then Garden Park in my opinion at least they don't misdiagnose you (or haven't in my case). The food is not so great , but what do you expect from a hospital. My worse complaints with them is 1. I ended up getting another infection while in hospital due a catheter they put in me and 2. you call to get paper work for insurance and you hold for one hour. I called and said I needed to make a payment just see how long I would have to hold. held 15 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!! wow... to give money they catch you fast. to help you with insurance paper work takes an hour!!!!
I have noticed several reviews removed because, *quote* they were not within hospital guidelines. lol Tells me they had to be pretty bad. That would cause me concern knowing the hospital censors their reviews.
This hospital states it is a "501(c)3 not-for-profit organization" and I would have to disagree. Recently a family member did a simple out patient surgery and we were told by a business office representative that our portion of the procedure would be $3600 with a down payment of $300 leaving a balance of $3300. The food is okay, for a hospital. But I'm at 2 hours and counting waiting to be discharged. This hospital has a problem keeping beds available probably because it takes forever to discharge a single patient.
This hospital is the WORST hospital I've ever been to. My husband had a heart attack while we were on vacation and was forced to go to this particular hospital. We were wheeled into billing and forced to make a payment on his $190,000 bill before it was put through insurance. Before they checked with what type of insurance we had, before they did ANYTHING. I had a pain management in the impatient surgery area when truth be told, it's an outpatient procedure. I was told to arrive at 7:30am. I arrived on time, however, they had filled all the rooms. They placed a gurney in the hallway next to the lobby where they had me spend the next 4 hours. They had me in nothing but a hospital gown in the hall. I can understand and even sympathize to a degree with the challenges faced by physicians and support staff, organizing high volume patient traffic, managing multiple patients with sometimes very complicated medical diagnoses. However, a proficient medical team is one whom arises to the challenges they face on a daily basis, as it varies from patient to patient; regardless of age, complication, previously diagnosed conditions, arduous treatments, and likely prognoses.
