I secured a climate control unit in the basement at Extra Space Storage the 4950 Nicholson Ct. Kensington, MD location. The day I contracted the storage unit and guided to the space, I mentioned to Jessie Rogers, the store manager, that I smelled an odor. He didn't comment. On September 10, 2020 I went to the unit to move out. I hired movers to pick up and load my items. When we arrived at the facility, it was down pouring. I usually do not spend my time writing reviews, however I believe in consumer rights and good business practices. One of the four generally accepted basic consumer rights is right to be informed (the others are right to safety, right to choose and right to be heard). What Extra Space did not disclose to me is that the price for a unit I signed on will change. More specifically, the price of the unit will increase about 5 months after I started renting, and potentially once more about 9 months after I start renting. I thoug... read more

This place is a no for me. Climate controlled storage included it being close to freezing cold in the winter and warm and humid in the summer. Elevators were barely working every time I was there. Old building that needs to be redone top to bottom. When the sprinklers went off one Thursday night, some renters weren't called until the following Monday. I saw some very unhappy people that day. At first they seemed helpful. I lost my job and fell behind on payments. Instead of continuing to be helpful, they decided to be shady. I spoke with the GM Jesse, and his assistant GM George and worked out a payment plan; or so I thought. Right after making the last of 2 payments the GM says they cut my lock off so that they could inventory my stuff. That is shady. I had a vehicle stored at this storage when it was Storage Village. Since Extra Space bought Storage Village out they have a different policy that won't grandfather me in from Storage Village policy. I was force to move my vehicle out because the vehicle has to be insured, register and tags on the vehicle and in running condition. If it's a storage unit why does the vehicle need to be register and insured??????
