Clean and modern storage facility close to campus. It is convenient that you can access the facility until 10PM. Rafael was extremely helpful and accommodating. He provided excellent customer service.

Verna was a big help as we decided which storage unit to get for our UC Santa Cruz son. The rates were fair (first month rent was free), the location is close to UCSC. We started the process online, and then spoke with Verna on the phone. She sent the e-docs via email, which I then signed digitally. Start to finish, the entire process took less than 15 minutes. Highly recommend.

Miguel at Dubois is a real customer service expert. His knowledge of the system and efficiency in communication stand apart from basic service. This gentleman will make you feel welcomed, listened to, and respected. Great to rent from extra space, especially at their new Dubois location!

Gate is often opened and broken. Many break-ins are reported. Not kept clean around building. Elevator very slow. Raise prices by HUGE percentage every year. Office often closed, sometimes for a whole day because short staffed. Accounting mistakes took a full day to straighten out.
I recently got a storage unit at extra space storage in Santa Cruz on DuBois Street. I was having a really hard day that day and Jordan, the manager on duty was very welcoming, understanding and non-judgmental. I truly appreciate him. However, one day I went to drop off a Dyson fan and forgot my keys in my hotel, left in the front of my unit, mistakenly and it was taken by someone so please be careful here

We had our 10x10 broken into twice. Stole over $100,000 in property stolen. Bikes, camera equipment, high end clothes, shoes, jackets, instruments. They climbed in over the top and punched out the lock from inside. Management did absolutely NOTHING! The police said they have been there more than 30X in nine months since June 2023 and they are sick of it. NO RESPONSE from Corporate EXCEPT they did continue to raise rent!! I was told when I booked my storage until that there are on average 4 break ins reported each month. I asked if there is wifi access so that I can install a battery powered security camera in my unit. I was told there is wifi available. Upon my first day checking into my unit, I could not get any wifi signal. I reported this to the manager and he told me that there's nothing he could do about it. This is infuriating!!! Now I'm looking to cancel my unit and look for another storage facility.

If I could give negative stars, I would. We had our entire house contents stored due to large renovation. In 10 months, our rate went from ~$485 to ~$600+. On that time we had over $18,000 worth of our items stolen. Extra space could totally do something about this and they're not. Thieves remove the upper barrier bar on units, crawl over the top and open the unit from the inside. The facility manager tried high-pressure sales tactics on me, which is unethical. When I visited the facility for an unrelated matter, the manager told me that I must commit to renting for multiple months or risk a rate increase that may come at any moment. Confused, I asked him to send that to me in writing, so I could consider it. The email never came. While not illegal, it is unethical to conjure up hypothetical scenarios in an attempt to scare customers. It is called manipulation and I don't appreciate it.
