In full disclosure, I own a livestock supply company that is GoBob's largest dealer in the US and they are our largest vendor. With that said, we sell Gobob products because we want to and we want to because we believe in both the company and the products. The truth is, we could sell any of the major livestock equipment company’s products we wanted to. As a matter of fact, we get several calls a year from some of them asking us to consider carrying their line of equipment. Some of those big outfits turned us down years ago when we were first getting started and before we discovered Gobob. We graciously turn them down and have decided to “dance with the girl we came with”.
I think the fact that we took delivery on 54 semi loads of GoBob products in 2018 alone tells you how much we (and our customers) think of GoBob’s line of livestock feeding and handling equipment. When we first started our business, we made a conscious decision that we would only carry “ranch duty” gates, feeders, livestock feeding & handling equipment, etc. We knew it was a risk as this quality of product cost more than the lighter weight products sold by most stores. Therefore, we made another decision; we would operate our entire business by the same principle GoBob does, low margin and high volume in an effort to make the cost difference between the light duty products and our products as little as possible. Being in an extremely rural location we knew it would be a challenge. Well, this has paid off for us. Our local sales are is about a 250 mile radius with some customers driving over 600 miles from AZ just to pick up their orders at our store. We also drop ship numerous loads to our customers all over the Western US.
I’m prefacing this review with the above, not to point out our store, but to say how much we think of GoBob! Yes, we believe in, and have built a business around, their products. But their products are only as good as the people that make up GoBob.
I have worked with my salesperson (and friend), Shannon Goad, for many years now. There is seldom a day goes by that we don’t talk, sometimes multiple times a day. She’s a Rock Star! I always have multiple orders turned in and she works hard to make sure everything is right, give me the best estimated lead times based on production schedules she can. I couldn’t do it without her!
Then there’s the logistics (shipping) side of things. With as many orders as we place and have on file, coupled with the fact we are constantly revising orders and trying to swap things around to take care of our customer’s needs, it could cause a logistics coordinator to want to pull her hair out. However, Ronda (my friend), the logistics coordinator at GoBob, who I affectionally call rondathebomb.com is always on top of it. She is amazing! I have a daughter that works for our family business now. She used to work in the corporate office of one of the top 5 logistics company’s in the US, so I know how stressful and overwhelming coordinating freight can be. Ronda is passionate about her job and goes above and beyond to get it all done.
And of course, there’s Bob. He took a chance on me 8 years ago and since then we have become more than business associates, we’ve become friends. We talk regularly. He’s given me sound and helpful business advice. He asks my opinions. Considers my suggestions on ways to better products, and has always stood behind his products. On the rare occasion there has been a quality control issue as soon as I notified him of it, it was taken care of immediately! He founded the company, takes pride in the company and customer support isn’t just something he talks about, it something he demands from himself and the people that work for him.
Last, but certainly not least, is the rest of the GoBob crew. At the risk of forgetting someone I’ll still give a shout out to Lindsey, Brittney, Paul, Scott and the rest of the gang that rounds out and keeps the wheels turning at GoBob.
