Nice tennis facility with decent priced membership fees. Initiation is $125 and $97 monthly for a single person. There are over 20 courts and a full sized gym. I'd join if I lived in Sacramento. But I will never live in sac therefore I will never join. The parking lot is also huge so parking is easy and free.

Tennis: -- Excellent court conditions, lots of space in between courts, great access, cooled water fountain. -- Center court is sunken and has ample space around it for viewing, and also from the huge patio/deck that also oversees other courts. -- Around 25 courts -- Lots of teaching pros, some with significant tournament experience -- A lot of juniors, also a good base of older tennis players Beautiful club. Great lobby and cafe. Cardio room, weight room, fitness room, indoor racquet ball, two pools outside. Locker room ... read more

My sons and our family friend that works out with them twice a week because he is training for martial arts and they are training for wrestling got kicked out of Gold River Sports Club today. Their reasoning was that they don't allow personal training in their gym besides their own trainers. However he is working out with them and we are not paying him. Yes he is older so yes he has more experience working out and brings that into their workouts. They all are doing the same workout. Yes my husbands work pays his membership a... read more

Business response:

Hi Amy, we greatly apologize if you feel you were approached in an unfriendly manner. We strive to provide a welcoming environment in all of our Spare Time Sports Club locations. We understand you have already spoken with Mark, our company Director of Operations. We would be happy to have you all in the club! Mike did not intend on kicking you out of the club, he was just expressing the concern of providing personal training services. We have Certified Personal Trainer staff for our members, and the perception of Personal Tr... read more

On January 27,2024 my mother in law who is in a wheelchair 93 years old , my partner and I who is in a knee scooter ( had an accident days before the event ) We drove from San Francisco to support our friends playing sectional tennis. We came in and told by a very nice lady to check in but because a long drive we need to use the restroom and check in afterwards, she was very friendly and had no problem with it. Because of my mother in law who is in a wheelchair and me in a scooter, my partner needs to push the wheelchair nex... read more

Business response:

Hi Jarv, we apologize if a staff member came off as less than polite when they noticed a male in the women's locker room. The staff member was being considerate of others in the locker room at the time. Once we became aware of your situation, we did make accommodations that you agreed upon. We allowed you to use the girls' junior locker room as there were no juniors in the club at the time of the event. We agreed this was the best solution and you were able to use the junior locker room again throughout the day of the event.... read more

Why don't they fix up the hot tub during summer months but instead do it in the winter year after year is beyond me. Why a one-week job is going to require two months now (if it won't get postpone again "because of the rain", what rain?) is beyond me.

Business response:

Hi Eric, the hot tub re-plasters and re-tile were forecasted to be completed in August; however, permitting was only approved in December. Once the demo was conducted, it was recognized that the plumbing needed to be brought up to code and inspected by the County. County staff have a minimum two-week lag time, which is our current phase. Once the County approves the final stage – plastering is completed. However, there will be a required one-week wait time for conditioning. In the meantime, members are welcome to use other ... read more

I moved to the area and joined the club with high hopes given the good weather here and apparently abundant tennis facilities. However, the club does not provide any organized tennis services beyond the most basic level. Their Wednesday and Saturday tennis drops ins cater mostly to 2.5 and 3.0 level players. As a higher level player who's always wanting to improve themselves, while at the same time still socializing, I'd like something a little more competitive. My inquiries to the tennis director about this did not go anywh... read more

Very frustrating! The pools for lap swimming are consistently too cold, we ask and then ask and ask again to turn up the thermostat, but no one cares about the customer. And, Very expensive club too! Under Covid, the showers are of course closed and so they are saving energy costs there. Why can't they keep the pools warmer for evening swimming?

Sorry but this club has rude staff at the front desk and the worst customer service. I was meaning to leave a review before COVID-19 but I ended up moving. I was sitting on the couch and some front desk woman came up to me and asked me to stop sleeping. The thing is... I wasn't sleeping. She kept doing it and it was very bizarre. Not a good way to treat your guests, Gold River.

I write this review with sadness in my heart, I was a member here from 1994- 2016 and later after I moved down south I didn't need the membership anymore so my parents switched it to a couples membership. And then something terrible happen and my big brother passed away and instead of coming together as a family after the tragedy my parents pushed me away. Anyways We are on better terms now and my parents wanted me to start coming to the gym with them again and I was keen on the idea because a family plan is only $215 and a ... read more
