Mum has been a resident of Baycroft Great Baddow now for 6 months. The home has many positives. A very high standard of living accommodation with most attractively appointed rooms, public areas, gardens. The staff are friendly and caring and the home has a very pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. But, the major, major problem is the excessive waiting time for care assistance. All staff were welcoming, however, I feel this home is very new as are the staff, and many people are still finding their way. Mum was only in for a two week respite, as she has vascular dementia. She doesn't appear to have taken part in the planned activities, as during various visits by members of my mums family, she was either laying on bed or sitting in the lounge, I know it's her choice to join in, and these were ad hoc visits, but it doesn't appear she was encouraged to.
