I really recommend the veterinarians at this clinic, but have decided to not allow my dog to stay here again for boarding. He came home smelling so disgusting, like he had been urinated on while we were out of town for three days. He came home starving as if he hadn't been fed. The doctors are very nice and knows gravel but I will not be having him spend the night again.

We have been taking our Yorkie to Gunston Animal Hospital since we moved here in 2010 for all her veterinarian care. Everyone is very caring and helpful. Ali has had many health issues over her 10 years and we seem to see the Doctors every couple months. Both Dr. Hurst and Dr. Vinch are fantastic! They carefully explain options for treatment to us and genuinely care about Ali. The staff are professional, friendly, helpful, and caring and greet us by name. I always receive a call within a couple days to follow up to see h... read more

I have had pets my entire life and therefore had my fair share of vet offices. By far, hands down, Gunston Animal Hospital is the best! After moving to VA, I selected a vet office close to home. Although they were pleasant and efficient, on 2 occasions they were unable to see my pets in an emergency. Both times Gunston came through and provided exceptional service. One emergency required me to put down my 15 year old Shepherd. Gunston had never before seen my Maggie but you would never have known that. The entire offic... read more

This is a pleasant, efficient, thorough, and clean place to go for animal care. My dogs have had annual check ups as well as non-routine visits at this facility. The staff is pleasant and the pricing is standard.

Nice little animal hospital. Very friendly and warm staff, clean lobby. I brought my dog in because he kept flapping and scratching at his ears. The doctor examined him but didn't find anything, so she gave us some sort of ear solution to give out dog. Ultimately it worked and he is fine. What I was most impressed with was 3 or 4 days after the visit the doctor called us to check up on our dog, see if he was doing any better.....I've never encountered that type of service before.

I moved to the area about 2 months ago, and my apartment complex needed me to verify species of canine I have, and I needed to update my shots for him. I walked in, and the typical pet hospital smell came about, but not too strong. I met the receptionist, who had me fill out a short questionaire and then within 5 minutes we were taken to the exam area for my dog. We met the vet, Dr. Heather Hurst. She was bright, intellegent, and very helpful to my needs for my dog. I was able to have the exam, get the shots, and some g... read more

Stop!!! Don't take your animals there! We just recently had our dog there for a mass removal from her hind leg. It has been a horrible experience from start to finish! Our dog was evaluated by one vet and surgery performed by another. First our dog had staples, which popped out. Then she had butterfly stiches where one stiched popped open and the rest unraveled. The third time, she had single stich. No antibiotics were given until the second time , and no wound cleaner until the forth time. They are not equipped for large dog... read more

Minimal contact regarding updating prescriptions. My 4 year old dog has been on allergy meds since he was a puppy, and instead of calling to request an exam to ensure he still needs them or to check they aren't causing negative effects on him, they just refused to refill the request on chewy. Didn't call me, didn't warn me, and a week later, have still not followed up. I am about to move across the country and thankfully I'll need a new vet, but hopefully I can figure out allergy meds to get us through the next month. Also,... read more

I've been coming to this clinic for over six years and have raved about it to all my fur parent friends! Unfortunately, my last visit was less than ideal. The vet was great and very knowledgeable but the supporting staff (checkin/out and vet tech) made me feel like I was "bothering" them and were not friendly. Upon checking out I was not acknowledged until I finally asked if I was able to check out as I stood at the counter. I understand staff can become busy but a simple "hello" or acknowledgment goes very far as brining yo... read more
