Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

Short Honeymoon Stay On site dining and accommodations, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff, attentive management, and within walking distance to Edgartown storefronts. Would definitely revisit the Harborview in future travels.
Beautiful hotel.... Pros: The amenities. Pool was great, restaurant at pool, dining room, location of hotel. Cons: Needs some sprucing up in the Govenor Mayhew House. Location: Short walk to downtown. Beautiful hotel...a bit dated in some rooms. Toilet did not work well and had to ask to have it fixed. Worked fair after that. Bathroom sink did not drain...had to ask to have fixed. Staff very nice. Waiter, Kiro, at pool, was fabulous. So efficient and very nice.
Nice location, but room wasn't worth the price Beautiful view of the ocean and lighthouse across the street. We left our hotel each night after dinner to take the trail across the street down to the lighthouse and watch the sunset. We spent most days at the pool, ordering lunch poolside...if you want a cabana (only 4 available), it's first come first serve, so get there early (like 8:30/9:00am). We ate breakfast each day at "Among the Flowers Cafe" which is a short walk from the hotel on Mayhew Lane. Check it out on Yelp! Yo... read more
A little tired but amazing location. Food excellent, staff young and inexperienced
Pros: Friendliness of staff, cleanliness of facilities, the view. Wow! A full moon rising over the harbor, watched from a rocking chair on the porch. Cons: The pillows: too soft. No firmer ones to be found. We had to wrap a couple of couch pillows we pilfered from the lobby. Location: No drag races, no drive-in movies, no shopping malls--nice! Just lots of excellent quality restaurants and art galleries and stylish shops. You get what you pay for, if you're lucky. We paid a lot, we got a lot, so we were lucky. It was a great... read more
Nice place beautiful views from the porch a little pricey for the room we stayed in had a musty smell in the hallways.
Tennessee Very nice hotel. However we were put in a room off the main building. We were placed on second floor. That part of building had no elevator so had to DRAG our bags up the steps. We arrived later at night so one to help with bags.
