Nice Printer to Replace a Dying HP Color Laserjet Printer works great. Fed-Ex shipping was a fiasco (as it usually the case with Fed-Ex, it seems), but the printer did arrive on time and in great shape. Set up is extremely easy if you are tech savvy, and easy enough if you aren't. I didn't use the manual to set it up for the most part. If your wifi is stable and strong, it absolutely isn't a problem past initial setup. Excellent bargain. Printer is very fast and produces very nice pages. Set up was very quick and easy. I did need a friend to set it up on the table for me as it's 50 pounds was just too much for this 72 year old lady to manage.
Some annoyances I can live with The Linux drivers are just a CUPS wrapper around an old LPD driver that's a binary blob you can download from Brother. It prints just fine but all of the standard options are ignored; all the configuration has to be done in the other options tab. It also lacks a wired ethernet port: you either have to connect it via USB or wireless ethernet. Scanning via the wireless network works fine under SANE. Excellent Home Office Printer This printer does everything it claims to do. I have Apple Phones, ipads, and computers in my household and it prints from and scans to them all. Good color for document printing which is what I need it for. Probably would not be good for photo printing.
