Hocon delivered propane to my home as the former owners were contracted with them (3 years ago). They charged me $8.66 per gallon on their invoice. I called them this am to get a price quote for delivered propane to my home $2.30 per gallon! that's 3.75x MORE. How does this not violate some sort of law?

Please reach out to our customer service center and speak to the branch manager at ************ to discuss your particular needs. Price is based on annual consumption. It may be that the previous owners used very little propane or had stopped using the product for some reason or another.
Their prices are horrible. They were charging me $5.38 a gallon. I called to inquire about it and said that was the rate. I informed them that I would be switching companies and they lowered it a little I think it was less a dollar so I'm still paying $4.50 a gallon. They also put a tank fill lock on my tank due to a dispute with my neighbor downstairs as well. He has since switched to a new company and I'm going to be doing the same. Pricing is based on annual consumption and is competitive with pricing surveys posted by the US Energy Information Administration for the state average for Connecticut for home heating.
They charged me $4.98 a gallon A 30% increase in 2 months. Just as a reference, Forbes fuel which is one town away is charging $1.95 a gallon. I'm filing a complaint with the state as well
On November 12, 2024 HOCON charged a unit price of $2.39 per gallon. As of 12/21/24 we received service three days earlier than the scheduled service date at a unit price of $4.58-- a nearly 91% increase in less than a month without notifying us of the increase. According to the state of CT increases of this measure and time frame can be considered price gauging. Hi there, HOCON has been unable to resolve our billing issue or over a month. They prematurely charged us for tanks. We started our account when into our home in January 2024. They charged us in November 2024 instead of January 2025. We've asked for a reimbursement and after speaking with Tony and Melissa, we still have not seen a reimbursement. In addition they are charging for tank when many other companies are not. I will pull our account should we not receive immediate remediation by Monday December 9th. This is unaccept... read more

It does appear that the tank lease fee was billed out on 10/31/2024, however, it was credited back to the account on 11/1/2024. There was an ACH payment made on 11/5/2024, leaving a balance equal to the lease fee. However, on 11/12 an additional delivery was made to the tank using the credit balance that had been placed on the account at time of delivery. Hocon was good the first year, but now just awful. We prepay for propane and they do not deliver until we call several times. We are totally dissatisfied, and we have tried to speak with someone at their office but they simply do not care about the customer. Once they get the money, you are of no importance.
This company charged me an exorbitant price of $7.55 per gallon and an additional $70 per year for renting the tank. However, I managed to find another company that only charges $10 per month for tank rent to own and $1.95 per gallon for fuel delivery. It seems that Hocon company is taking advantage of a loophole where they can charge whatever they want as long as you don't reach a minimum of 1000 gallons per year. This is the second year in a row they have auto filled my propane tank when I’ve asked them to NOT auto fill. This year I tried not paying the bill until I needed more. They did it again in spite of me not paying my bill, they filled my tank at end of season!

Hocon generally requires a customer sign a "Will Call Letter" to indicate their understanding of their obligations of when to call for deliveries, what to expect from that type of service, etc. There is no will-call letter on file.
