This 3 stars is based entirely on food. The food was delicious, but the service was awful. Our waiter was snippy, rushed, and rude. The appetizers were barely at our table when the mains arrived, and then he took away the appetizer plates because they had placed the 6 of us crowded around a small table and we weren’t even done eating the appies yet. Joey Burrard is one of our favourite places for a late lunch or happy hour--great selection of food for our collection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free friends; great atmosphere; and honestly the best servers of any of the many restaurants we dine at (and that includes the other Joeys!). Awesome experience We don’t have a Joey’s or an Earls where we live on Vancouver Island So, when we are in Victoria, we go to Earls, and when in Vancouver we go to Joeys Husband had the cod, with crispy rice, an amazing curry sauce, cauliflower and snap peas. Amazing dish Chef Mills !! Message to Jeff Fuller …. Can you PLEASE consider a Joeys or Earls for Nanaimo ? Cactus is sooooo busy Gracias !

The setting is fun and elegant, but also comfortable and unpretentious. The menu is excellent: it has something for everyone: it's interesting, unique, has an Asian twist, and has the best fish tacos we've ever had. Many fun, healthy, decadent and creative international-fusion options! Had a great time!

We had the most wonderful server called Cameron and I would like to say a huge thank you to him for his kindness and care for my family last night. He truly was so kind and caring and honestly could not have done anything more to make us feel welcome and comfortable.

Nice touch to be offered a glass of wine while waiting for our reserved table. Not sure why we were give seats in the noisy lounge. We made a reservation a week in advance and we are clearly seniors. It was hard to carry on a conversation. I passed through the quieter dining area and there were many tables available. We were, however, given a comfortable booth. I had to ask for the menu to see the dessert options and then we waited and waited for our order to be taken. We finally asked for the bill and left without dessert. ... read more
