Despite my stellar credit rating (over 800) and willingness to include a 20% down payment into my VA loan, I just feel my mortgage “partner” didn’t do just that and “partner” with me to ensure I remain close to my original estimated mortgage payment of $2800. Instead, my mortgage payment ballooned up to $3100, which I believe was avoidable. Being more positive/reassuring about our options versus telling us we may have to pay off debt due to interest hikes. Understood this was a possibility but it was not a good feeling when this was mentioned. It was an hurdle, and having a banker that is in your corner to assist throughout the process is important. Overall it was an okay experience when we compare to others.
