I found out that Kim Shuey was out of office on the day of closing my home and essentially pawned me off to one of her coworkers who was not great at communicating. Also they sent the money to the wrong escrow company which is insane that they wouldn’t triple check that kind of information. Also they messed up my wife’s last name and that also caused the closing of the home to be delayed.

The Loan Originator (LO) treated me with disrespect, She was rude, unkind and unpleasant. As a successful business owner, I must live in a bubble. On 6/28/24 we received our pre-closing disclosures. All was good up until this point. Then on 7/03, 1 business day prior to our closing signing date, we received the "final" closing disclosures. There was a $2,600 increase in the cash to close! This was a $2,600 surprise between 3 business days and 1 business day prior to signing! I had to do a lot of investigation and found that all of the disclosures up until 7/03 were missing an entire jurisdiction's property tax. Originally had wrong closing date, causing unnecessary stress. Difficult to get a hold of and communicate with at times. Sometimes abrasive And not customer friendly. All of these statements refer to Mutual of Omaha, not Kim herself.

Kim was a good loan officer. She stayed on top of things and tried to resolve issues to the best of her abilities. However, we would never work with Mutual of Omaha mortgage again due to the incompetence of the loan processing department. numerous times the loan processor did not listen to what we asked. Mis-stating my amount due at signing by nearly $30,000 really screwed me over and put me in a bad position. Charging and setting up a traveling notary for my portion of the signing cost me unnecessary additions funds without discussing it with me.

Majority of the time when i was curious as to what was going on with the loan, if we were waiting on anyone, etc. I had to follow up with Kim more than once to get an answer. The biggest issue I had however is Kim assured me that Mutual of Omaha would be keeping and servicing my loan, just like my other home loan with them. 5 days before my first mortgage payment was due, I received a letter stating that my loan has been transferred. The process is so burdensome and the platforms are not user friendly. Mutual also made an error in my final ALTA and up to the last minute no one could tell me what the numbers were. Kim was out of town. She later blamed her colleague then blamed the title company. When I shared emails that showed it was mutuals mistake she finally admitted it.

Inability to properly work out the debt to income ratio properly the first time actually resulted in the loan taking too long and allowed me to cancel out of the first home we bid on.
