You know what to expect, perfect when staying only to sleep. I would hope to see some repairs across the building and rooms but on the other side that might kill La Quinta essence. It's an old hotel and would probably get some benefit from getting some repairs. La Quinta is always a standard, I've been in many across the US and you know what to expect. Always a good location, especially in this one for attending conferences and meet-ups. Staff is great, the are responsive and helpful on anything you need.

If your standards aren't high this location can't be beat for price & Capitol access. There's a reason the price is so reasonable. This hotel is in MAJOR need of renovation. Most people won't stay here because of its condition. You can't beat the location if you're working the Legislative Session. The price for a downtown hotel is unbelievable.
great location, great bed, great breakfast, shoddy cleaning on the floors carpet didn’t look great, this is to be expected with young crowds so I wasn’t super worried about it. location! we walked to 6th street both nights, it was very doable for someone who doesn’t do cardio regularly. the beds were the best by far! super comfortable! and the curtains kept it completely dark
Perfect location for a first-time visit to Austin. Very easy to navigate to a variety of destination Valet-only parking, operated by a separate company, was a bit of a surprise, as was the very high rate of $50+ per night. But there are no alternatives within walking distance of the hotel. No on-street parking; local garages are restricted by access or length of stay. One night stay to visit with our state legislators was affordable and satisfactory. I remember when this was a really nice hotel in the 1970s, so needless to say, it is aging. It needs a good cosmetic update and refurbishing. The room was somewhat musty, but with the AC, it was okay. The flooring needs replacing, the electrical outlets in the bathroom did not work, and a light bulb was out in the bedroom. Parking was NOT free as in the booking info; $45 a day, but we managed.
