Ok here we go..... Stopped in today 08/23/2017 for an early dinner with my daughter and all I can say is I wish Hattie's had been open. I'm originally from St. Louis and BBQ is what we do so I know good BBQ when I taste it. Here's the breakdown of my experience: Brisket, was cooked well but had absolutely no flavor other than smoke and it was way too fatty. Ribs, again cooked well and not much flavor at all but edible. Deviled Eggs, basic. Mac-N-Cheese, very cheesy but it was not seasoned. No salt, pepper, butter or ... read more
Well my first visit was horrible and I'm blaming it on the crowd not to mention we was starving. They ran out of sides so... So we decided to try it again. I live in the neighborhood and I had ppl from Louisiana that wanted barbeque. Well they were disappointed I was embarrassed cuz they was ragging on me. The links were cold and the bread was hella stale. I wished we would've went to Red White and BLUE.
I know I should have figured this out beforehand but I did not like the no plates thing. It was messy and seeing the cold, congealed meat sitting on a greasy piece of red paper was about as appetizing as eating my own toenails. The smoked turkey, mac & cheese and beans were good but the slaw and potato salad had a strange kick and not much flavor. BBQ sauce is spicy and good.
I was not impressed. Chicken was dry, ribs were salty. The 1st bite of brisket was good, but it was downhill from there. Smoke didn't get all the way through.
It's ok not best I had. Didn't like we got our meal in paper and plastic wear.
I'm giving this location a poor because charged me for the burnt; dry brisket they charged me for that was not edible. It's bad enough that they can't measure their product successfully; after all of these years in business!!! I ask for a 1/2 pound of brisket ($8.99) and it actually comes out to be $13.04??????? What's worse is, they have answered any of the questions I've asked in the past.....they appear to be too big for their britches!!!!
