not going back. canned food and a bad after-taste.
Food was bleh. Mixed grill w/rosemary potatoes that were actually french fries. Meat was tasty, potatoes were good, but not what was expected. Carciofi chicken with risotto. Sauce was tangy but the chicken itself was bland. Risotto was the worst. It wasn't real risotto, wasn't arborio rice. It was regular longer grain rice that had been stirred to create creamy starchiness. Not the same. Server, Rene, was absolutely HORRIBLE. Thought it would be best to do somersaults for the table of 4 men in scrubs while we had to keep bot... read more
Unfortunately, probably had the worst Italian food in San Antonio here. Service was good and ambience was great, but the expectations of the food was not met. Maybe it was an off day because one of my friends frequently dines here. I hope I'm wrong, but just being honest about my experience. Won't go back unless one of my friends really wants to go.
Waiter made the experience fun-not so much the food. The mussels were delicious, but...the lasagna (husband's order) tasted strange, and so did the special salad. The caesar salad was very ordinary. I can't even remember what I-wait, it was the lobster ravioli-not very good. May come back with girlfriends just because I really liked the ambience and desserts looked promising.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, however the live singer was too loud, I could barely hear my husband and we were across the room from the singer. We had the veal and shrimp risotto. Neither was outstanding, the risotto was so fishy tasting I couldn't eat it. Also the gnocchi I got as an appetizer was barely warm. Wouldn't return.
Food was pretty good...not fantastic...but good. Atmosphere was nice, except for the tables being WAY to close together. I like to eat without knowing the private conversation of the table next to me and vice versa. Waiter was a little strange and not very attentive. The overall 'air' was that the restaurant was trying very hard to appeal to the upper class...but still fell a bit short. My advice -- Be content in being a pretty nice restaurant with decent food...and focus on that. Trying to be an uber classy "Ristorante" sim... read more
Pizza was good. Steak was bland and gross.
We were looking forward to finding a new restaurant to add to our list. We had been there before when it was a different name and enjoyed it. The food was so-so and pricey, the ambience was noisy (live music for Valentine's Day) which made it hard to hold a conversation. We will probably not return nor recommend.
The first time we went we had a great experience. The food was excellent, service and ambience also excellent. This time we went for Valentine's day. The price fixe menu was different than the usual menu. The food was not up to par (probably because they pre- prepared the dishes. The dessert was boring, did not taste good at all. The appetizers were not good and the entrees were substandard. Very disappointing.
