Waiter pretty much rained on our parade. Failed to check on us for 15 minutes at a time and then blamed management for assigning him sections set too far apart. Normally a wonderful little neighborhood gem. This visit was an exception.
I had the special which was fish over shrimp risotto and it was awful! The salad wasn't very good either. I will not go back!
Very busy Saturday night. Maybe that's why service was so slow. Or was it the ossobucco? Should tell us when we ordered.
Food was not very tasty and the salmon piece they served me was very small and thin.
Luce never to amaze me with their flavors and service. You can't go wrong. If you are a wino (I'm not) their selection is vast.
A review in the Taste section of the Express News prompted us to have dinner there for a birthday celebration.the enoteca (wine library) is indeed impressive, making a pleasing decor.The vongole & rice ball appetizers were tasty, but the much-raved-about scallop entree was way too salty & the osso buco was heavy on the tomato. Our server was attentive until the bill was paid, & then she disappeared--we weren't offered even a water refill & we had to literally go find someone to take a picture. I was a little disappointed.
I am so disappointed in Luce, I really wanted this to be one of my favorite places to go for a great meal close to home. Unfortunately after trying several times in this year I have determined they are just not up to the job. The food is adequate at best and the service is sketchy. The Carpaccio Cipriani, was not impressive, it was so thin that it stuck to the plate and was too thin to taste. We were still hungry to we order the Salumi e Formaggio Misti, it was better than the first appetizer. We then moved on to the main course, Gnocchi di Gorgonzola. Food was average. Learning that is the case here in San Antonio. It's not fit for foodies. Manager charged my card twice. Said she fixed it but I had to call American Express to fix it. Service was slow and the restaurant was empty. Will find elsewhere to enjoy lunch.
