I just called to get an appointment because my dog had been sick for the past three days and the soonest they could get him in is 2 days from now. They used to be so good about getting sick animals in the same day for an appointment. I feel like it is owned by a corporation that cares more about the bottom line than the animals. The vet turnover is terrible and as much as I hate to research and find a new vet I think that it's time to do so.

I pulled my extremely old wonderful experience when Dr Casey owned this facility I have nothing but bad experiences. Very bad rude not nice female manager. They had my one cats leash left in their office. Never put it back in carrier. Very bad conversations about they. They gave me two rabies cents for one cat but not the other. Upon calling to fix this they acted like it's my issue Vet told me my one cat will need a dental soon. I just spent 65 bucks to be told he does not need one at Horizon. Go to Horizon. FRAUD ALERT!! BEWARE!! I just had the most awful experience at McDowell Mountain Animal Hospital. I made an appointment to get an ESTIMATE at McDowell Mountain AnimaI Hospital for my dog's dental work. I was clear with the front desk attendant that I only wanted a ESTIMATE for his dental work so I could compare prices. The attendant took my dog to the back where the vet looked in his mouth and told me what I already know-he needs dental work. Not at anytime did they ask if I wanted an exam! Terribly run facility and they do not care for animals. It has not been the same since Dr. Casey left. I made an appointment for my dog that takes medication to get a refill prescription. I ran 5-10 minutes late and Dr. Spangler refused to see my dog. We are traveling and now we are left without the needed medication for my dog.

Very nice people here but $27 to get my 10 lb dog's nails clipped? Last time it was 14. No explanation, but that is out there. I will probably be shopping for a new vet if that reflects their new pricing strategy.

Sadly, this animal hospital used to be 5 stars. My dog (Reese) and I started here about 10 years ago and have been patients of Dr Kasey the whole time. They have always treated us well, and Dr Kasey was fabulous. The clinic has been changing drastically over the last few years, the staff completely turned over. Dr Kasey took a long personal leave 3-4 months back and decided to leave the practice without any opportunity to have a last meeting with her, or even email her any questions about my pet going forward. Really difficult to write this review... we had been using MMAH for years and loved Dr Casey. We have three dogs, two of which are seniors and both are on multiple medications. Over the last several months Dr Casey sold the practice to a corporate chain and retired. The staff has all turned over and there is a new vet. There was sudden pressure to do all kinds of new tests on our dogs and refusal to refill prescriptions without the tests. My dog was bit by a rattlesnake. The doctor actually accused me of abusing my dog since she thought it looked like a head trauma and so no signs of bite marks. After publicly humiliating me and having the entire office (in the front waiting room) telling me that the injury was not a snake bite, but due to my abusing my baby. I had witnessed the bite and was horrified. I was traumatized already and had a very sick dog in need of emergency assistance. I am terribly saddened by this review. We strive to provide the highest care to our patients. I was present when this sweet baby was seen at the hospital. No one was ever accused of abuse, but emotions/ panic precluded a rational discussion. I do apologize if that was how it was received. I was a nw potential client that called to make an initial visit. My appointment for my pet was at 1030 so I arrived about 8 min early to fill out paperwork etc. As soon as I walked in I was greeted promptly and was put in an exam room. The lady asked me to fill out a form and apologized that they haven't cleaned the room yet as they were busy.
